But they only thought she got pregnant twice because they were different sizes at the scan.
Babies develop differently right?
Maybe one baby wasn't developing as quick as the other or one was developing really quick.
In one part the dr said she was 11 weeks gone going by the biggest baby but mother said this was incorrect as she had been taking pregnancy tests so knew when she fell pregnant.

I think the big baby was just developing faster than the other.
Because if she had got pregnant while pregnant that means the cervix would have been open to allow sperm in to fertilize an egg.... so wouldn't she have mc?

I wondered that too-how can they be 100% sure the 2nd baby just didn't take longer to develop?! Theres no way of knowing for sure, surely? Its common for a twin to grow smaller than the other

I have a friend who this happened to - I had never heard anything like it before!
She fell pregnant and a couple of weeks later another egg was fertilised. She has twin boys who are not actually twins

This is very rare, but possible. I went to college with two 'twin' boys that were not actually twins, but conceived almost a month apart. Don't know how it works, but it is possible.

This happened to my mum, but my mum sadly lost one of the babies as her body saw it as being some sort of infection and flushed it out x
