Had a vaginal biopsy today.....OUCH OUCH OUCH

I've been experiencing terrible burning and itching 'down there' for a year and a half. I've seen four doctors, none of whom could figure out what it was (no no, not an STD or anything like that!) The only symptom I had was itching/burning. No discharge, no smell, nothing.

It took one year, but I finally was seen by this super specialized clinic today (called the "Vulva Clinic") and one of the best docs in the city for these problems. The doctor, her resident, the medical student AND the nurse all spend around 15 mins with their heads between my legs poking and looking (all at the same time! How embarassing), before deciding to go ahead and do a 'punch biopsy', where they literally use a hole-puncher device (a medical one, not an office one!) and literally punch a small piece of flesh out of your body to send it for tests.

They started off by giving me three needles in the fleshy part of my....errr....area. That made me scream out and cry so much! I was so embarassed but it was SO SO painful to get three needles down THERE! Then they did the procedure and left me with a hole. It actually looks like they hole-punched a piece of my 'hooha' out!

The whole thing was a terrible experience and the baby could sense that I was tense and crying, I think, because he/she was moving and kicking me everywhere.

Ugh...so glad that's over.
The good news is that they think it's one of three skin conditions that they can treat with a potent steroid cream. It's not contagious or anything (also good!), and should go away soon!

Bloody hell, you're brave. The thought of that hole punch makes me feel sick. You're brave! A good bit of training for the old labour bit we've got to go through....
