Amoxicillin 500mg safe in pregnancy.

Hey all. On Thursday I had blood in my urine and my Gp put me on amoxicillin 250mg for a uti. However yesterday evening I had to go to the out of hours Dr's as I now have sinusitis! I feel so crap. But im worried cos the Gp there (not my normal Gp) increased the dose to 500mg as the 250mg wont touch the sinusitis.

I'm so worried though that it will affect the baby. I wish I could get through it without taking the tabs but I'm in so much pain with the headache.

Has anyone else had amoxicillin 500mg in pregnancy and everything has been ok?

XXxx

Yeah I had a weeks supply of it for a uti and cleared it up no problem. Baby is absolutely fine hun. It is the safest antibiotic to take in pregnancy x

Yes its safe! If it wasn't, the doctor wouldn't have prescribed it in the first place! I had this quite a few times in my first pregnancy and am currently on Pennicillin (SP)

Yes its fine. I was prescribed 500mg for BV but they decided to give me something else instead which was 400mg. The chemist said this was a low dose but the Dr said it was the highest they could give me. Youll be fine X
