First hypnobirthing class today!

As above really. Its starting in an hour and I'm really not sure what to expect. I'm quite a shy person, so inviting a complete stranger into my house to tell me how to relax should be interesting. I really hope this works though - I'd do anything to not have the 24hours of horrific labour and panic again - well other than have a c-section (if i can help it). I hope this will mean I won't have to!

Ooo, let us know how you get on. I'm thinking of signing up for some hypnobirthing, but would love to hear someone else's experience of it before committing myself - as it's not cheap!!

no its not - although we wrote to all 5 groups near us and all of them offered us a discount when we said we couldn't afford to pay it all - the one we are doing is at home (so no sitter needed) and is usually 195, but we have got it for 100 - still not cheap, but cost for cost cheaper than me having another section when you think about costs of me not being able to drive or do very much

will let you know how it goes though - i have no idea what to expect myself

Good luck! Would love to know how you get on too! Read about "breathing" the baby out, rather than pushing, would live to know if she talks about that! X

PS I read the Marie mongan book last time & listened to the cd lots - I am sure it helped me in being relaxed & breathing thru the contractions. Not exactly painless tho...!

so...
it was quite good actually. most of it was talking as she was explaining the background behind it and covering the course overview, but then we got down to business. She just put on some nice music and talked us through relaxing each part of the body and then 'woke us up' gradually - i say in inverted commas as was nowhere near asleep or hypnotised or anything like that, but cause you relax your muscles so much it was helpful. We then watched a couple of birth videos, which were amazing compared to my last birth and DH learnt an amazing massage technique.
DH and I have had a chat about it all and he is willing to put in the practice, so I intend to be a lot more chilled out from now on. Still being quite pragmatic about it all, esp as its a vbac but there is hope!
