Just got off the phone with dss....

UGH!!!! So apparently child health plus won't cover the babys hospital stay when he/she is born. The only thing I can do is get Medicaid which will involve me having to cancel my current insurance (even though the website says i won't have to) and then I won't have insurance 60 days after the baby is born and will have to wait until January 2013 to get back on my parents plan. Praying OH finds a new job with health insurance before bubs gets here. I hate worrying so much. I should be enjoying my pregnanacy, not crying hysterically every day over another potential issue :/

you wouldn't have to cancel out your current insurance, I didn't have to!
don't worry, it'll work out.

I'm still on my parent's insurance AND on Medicaid - this is in Kentucky, though I don't think it should be different where you live
best of luck!

I'm on medicaid/ title 19 and it has been an absolute life saver, it has paid for everything and I would not be getting as much prenatal care if I didn't have this wonderful resource available. I had a lot of complications early on so it has been invaluable to me.

See I don't understand this. Your all saying you have your own ins AND Medicaid. Makes no sense to me why I would HAVE to cancel my ins which is through my parents as well. They kept telling me on the phone I qualify for Medicaid and to apply but I'm not due until June, I don't need ins right now. I'm just weighing my options because oh IS looking for another job/getting ins through his current job. So obviously I'm not going to apply and be approved and have it a few months then have them take it away before LO comes because we will make too much money.

I would apply now. Texas is forever slow about processing. And they just file it as a secondary here if you have both.

I would apply for Medicaid and just don't cancel the other one, until you are SURE you are completely covered. The worst thing that could happen is when you get a bill, they fight over which of the two has to pay it, but that's better than ending up with no coverage.
