Anti D Injection

Was just wondering if anyone has had it & what its like?
I have a huge phobia of needles & have fainted every time i have had one. I've read on the internet that it can be very painful?
x

You sound just like me! Im always getting stabbed more than once to find a vein and that is'nt very nice! I was soo scared but i honestly didnt feel it just a strainge numbness when the liquid was going in! I said to myself im going to have to get used to it because you'l have no end of blood taken and if you decide to do the epidural you'l be over the fear of them!!
Even though epidurals scare the hell out of me, i didnt get one because i didnt have time but im pleased i didnt now! x

I've had loads, they are more painful than some other injections you can have, the liquid stings as it's going in.
I've had it in my arm and my bum and i have to say, i found the bum a lot less painful so if you are allowed to pick i would recommend having it there, haha.

But honestly...its about 3/4 seconds of a stingy feeling in a tiny area, you will be fine! Just let them know that you aren't very good with needles

Horrible advice if you fear it but if you relax it never hurts as much as your muscles are relaxed. I have always had it in the upper thigh. Why not look into some breathing exercises now and look at it as practise for birth. Make sure you drink plenty of fluid. Your less likely to feel dizzy if you have eaten before you go. It can be hard for veins if your not well hydrated. Mine are a pain sometimes but i just learnt to chill over injections.

My daughter is quite laid back and chilled but she got the shakes and really feared it in the past when she was being tested for al-sorts. When we went up to the hospital they can now use freeze spray on the area and they really took the edge off it for her. We even bought our own to the local surgery and they were happy to use it on her. She had freaked and we had the leave the time before. i would say now she is 60% better. Thankfully she won't be needing anymore now.

Good news is they only inject you once now at 28 weeks according to my midwife they give a more concentrated one so you don't need another.

Thanks for the replies.
I thought i would of been used to injection by now as ive been under investigation for 5 years & i am constantly having them taken. I don't even know what scares me with them as they're just a piece of metal!
But thank you everyone
