Benefits to drinking coffee while pregnant?

Ok so for the first time in over 5 months I had my first coffee....I have missed it SOOOOOO much! I was drinking WAY too much of it before I conceived so I cut back, and didn't want to drink it in first tri (cause I'm paranoid about every little thing)...
well the other day I had a coffee...and it was soooooooooooo good!
My question is:
Are there any benefits to drinking it while pregnant? Any benefits to baby? I am only drinking a cup of coffee maybe 2 or 3 times a week thats all. Although my doctor told me its fine to have a cup a day.

I started drinking coffee again in the second trimester, too. Like you, I was drinking wayyy tooo much before I conceived and then backed off in the first trimester because even the smell of it would make me sick! (although, I would have stopped drinking it during the first trimester anyhow.. )

Now, I drink a cup or two daily and for me the benefit is ENERGY! I know it's not a super medical benefit, but when it helps me to get a little more housework done, it does a lot for my emotional well-being, too! I know that sounds silly, but having no energy and getting nothing done is depressing to me. The little burst of energy it gives me to help me be a better wife/mom, is like therapy!

I know it's not what you were looking for, but it's enough for me! =)

Probably! I used to drink waaay too much but went off it really early (around 3 weeks?) then moved on to tea and have now gone off that

No harm in a cup a day though!

You & I are SO much the same! lol! I can't stand my lack of energy...I hate a messy house, and then I feel like an awful mom when I have NO want to play with my 2.5 yr old! I feel horrible. But the other day when I had my first cup of coffee...I cleaned the house top to bottom, took my son to the park, went grocery shopping and worked out! HA!!!!!!!! Why wasn't I drinking this earlier!!

other then energy for you..the only thing I can think of is it helps the babe become accustomed to caffine earlier so that if you breasfeed and drink coffee or cafinated soda, the babe is usd to it and wont get one of those sugar rushes and keep them up.

One of my pg signs is going off coffee, which I love normally. This is even though I drink decaff, which surprises me. It's obviously safer to ditch the coffee in the first tri anyway. I usually go back on it around 16 weeks and it's great to have it back but before that the thought of it makes me want to throw up. Sadly, one of the signs I'd miscarried last year was I started wanting coffee before I knew anything was wrong .

Really don't think there are any benefits though. It's not an energy thing for me, it's just I really like the taste.
