ANYTHING else I can take besides Tylenol?

Hi ladies! I have been having such bad headaches now- everyday. Tylenol doesn't do anything for me. Do you know of anything else I can try or do? It's to the point where I feel like I can't even function properly...like today I was putting my son in the car and I fell on the ground. I tried talking to my dr and she just states the obvious...keep rested, keep hydrated...all the obvious. Suggestions?

spice tea! well if you have spices in your kitchen some cloves, fennel, and cinnamon bark, green caradimon... boil that in a pot, put in a tea bag make it the strength you want. Then strain it and add sugar or milk. Helps me when nothing else works.

Hello there, I know exactly what you are going through..I've been getting frequent migraines and was told during at my cerclage procedure that I can have absolutely nothing but tylenol/paracetamol for any pain what so ever. The reason is because ibuprofen literally dries up your amniotic fluid, so they do not allow any OTC drugs that contain it which pretty much leaves only tylenol and paracetmol as options. I'm allergic to codiene so that is out of the question for me aswell.

What I find that helps for me is to close my eyes and take in very slow deep breathes and hold them for 10 seconds and let the breathes out slowly, do that for a good minute or two, it gets oxygen flowing in big helpings to the brain and really helps. Another thing that helps for me is use a hot water bottle under my pillow at night when I'm asleep, the warmth soothes the ache away and I usually wake up feeling good. Coffee causes the blood vessels in your brain to dilate, well caffiene does...so have a nice hot cup or have a cold fizzy drink along with a tylenol and it helps a lot.

Headaches in pregnancy are from blood pressure changes, so getting plenty of fluids is very important, remember that a non pregnant woman should be drinking a pint of water every day at least, and should be double when you are expecting. I've noticed that my headaches are very worse if I dont take in plenty of hydration!

I hope this helps somewhat, Oh one more thing, incense and aroma therapy candles that are relaxing help very well.

well when my headaches were getting out of control I asked the doctor not midwife about medication and he said for one off bad migraines you can take a codeine based medication so I did and it really helped. I don't know what your view is on codeine but if its bad enough then it gets to the point where you will do anything to get rid of it
also a nice warm cloth over your forehead and a cup of lemon and honey helps too, lying in a dark room with the curtains closed and no interruptions is good too

My midwife said co-codamol for my migraines, and when I had a respiratory infection the doctor prescribed me some. It's not something you would want to take very often but it might help if things get really bad.

Really? That's nice to hear because I was wondering about this. When I looked into it, somewhere online said it's safe to take between 8 and 32 weeks but I wanted to get another opinion on that

I have had bad headaches ever since 6 weeks. Like almost non stop. They gave me Vicodin for the headache. They also informed me that I could take ibuprofen as long as it was only in the first and second trimester. After the third trimester is when it is proven to cause serious problems, that is why they avoid against it, in case you get to third trimester and forget or dont remember. I was also told Excedrin Tension Headache was ok, but only the Tension Headache kind. You might want to try that.

I do use the tension headache one a lot....I feel like it's not working so well though. With my 1st pregnancy, I was prescribed tylenol with codeine but my new dr won't prescribe anything. I am getting a little annoyed.
