Anyone else having to Inject Clexane?

Hi Ladies

Just wanted to see if anyone else is on these meds?

I have been since falling pregnant and have to take it right through until term; i normally take 20mg in the morning and 20mg at night.

I have just been and picked up my new prescription and was told by the pharmacist they are now only giving it in 40ml doses so i will only need 1 injection at night; I've tried contacting my consultant just to double check he is happy with this and i'm safe to go onto once a day with the 40mg rather than 2 20mg (as it is the same dosage after all) however he seems to of disappeared off the face of the earth!!!

If anyone can pass any advice it would be much appreciated

I think 40ml clexane should be ok hun but I would still check. I have been on these a few times before and they are monitoring me at the moment so may need them like you until term/I give birth and then dependent on the type of birth I will need them for 6 weeks after!

It's so scary I'm in such a routine of having that one first thing in the morning and then one in the evening, i really don't wanna mess mu body routine up by just having the full blown wack in the evening... as lovely as it would be to down to just 1 injection a day rather than 2

I still have a weeks worth of 20mg's left so will try getting a hold of my consultants PA just for some reassurance that this will be fine!!

Luckily I just managed to get a hold of his PA.... I must say i haven't come away very re-assured :-\

She said that he does prefer patients to be prescribed it 20mg twice per day but the 40mg thing is the hospitals new procedure and if that's the only way they will prescribe it, its the way it will have to be taken .... Im not sure if this puts my mind at rest or not :-\

They've stopped Clexane now....well they have in my trust anyway, I'm on another thinner. They told me they've stopped it for a good reason too- I'd discuss this with your doc. For the life of me though, I can't remember that reason?

I was put on 60mg Clexane frm roughly 18wks!! Its the 1 dose a day for me!
Usually take mine in evening 6.30pm'ish
Hate it!!! They think i have to have it until delivery!! 1 Midwife said i may be lucky and my consultant will cease it at my 34wk scan!!!???
I hate it but i kno it has to be done for a reason!!
Are you brave enuf to do it urself? Or are you like me? Get Hubby to do it instead??lol
I did try but had a bad experience and have left it to him since!!

OMG!!! Tha has me worried!!!
I was told when i got my 1st batch frm Midwife was that its the safest as it doesnt pass thru the placenta!!
Have you any idea why your trust stopped it?? What trust are you in?
Im gonna get onto my Midwife asap!!

I've been on the 40mg once a day since the beginning too. I'm glad I don't have to inject twice a day.

Hey Hun, Thanks for writing back

I hate the damn stuff too ... and nope, not brave enough to inject myself! God knows ive tried so many times but its just that initial skin break that I just cant seem to put myself through!!

How lovely if they decrease it at 34wk? As my reason for going on clexane was for recurrent miscarriage i was told that if i started using it then i HAVE to take it through the ENTIRE pregnancy; all my tests came back clear but we will obviously never know if the clexane is the reason for making the pregnancy successful! I cant wait till they stop though!!

Hi,
My Midwife showed my Hubby a easy way to make that part(breakthru) a bit easier,less sore!
She told us to pull on the skin and make it taut and inject the clexane then!
It works!! Becus b4 he did that it was sore as heck!!

I did try couple times but it was the breakthru that got me 2!!Hate it.....
Think im on it becus im high risk of some blood problem! Im hopin it ends in May!!! But knowin my luck Im gonna be still takin it up to birth

Im now 24wks!!!! Wishin away the nxt 16!!lol
