Your description made me

I've had this on and off for a while now. Google tells me it's normal so I wouldn't worry about it

If it was your plug, you'd know. That's much more yucky

You can lose your plug at any stage in pregnancy but at this point it would just regenerate. You only need to worry if its blood stained and your early. But what you have described sounds normal to me. I had that a few times with my eldest. and to answer the other bit no you don't always have contractions when you lose your plug. You can lose it days and sometimes weeks before. you can even lose your waters and not have contractions.

I've been having nasty discharge too but I'm sure its normal as I've always been quite leaky there

I lost some of my mucus plug few weeks ago and it's the grossest thing EVER, imagine the hulk sneezed and snot came out, like a HUGE piece of snot. Yep, you'd know! Don't worry though, it regenerates if it was your plug.
