Is it normal for baby's heart rate to drop? Any midwives want to add input!

Hi ladies , i'm popping over from 1st tri but i ill be joining you later on this week or next week anyway but figured my question would be better in here due to how far I am.

Anyway, as the question asks really. Reason for asking is, when I first found baby's heartbeat at 9+3 it was about 175bpm, at 10 weeks or so it went to 165bpm then tonight, at 12+4 its between 157 and 161bpm.

Does that sound normal? Does it keep dropping slightly as it gets bigger?

Never had the opportunity to listen so regularly before, and as beautiful a sound it is it's also quite worrying when it drops - even slightly...

Am i worrying for nothing?

Thank you in advance and thanks for reading

xxx

Yeah, totally normal. They will get slower throughout. The heart rate is much faster in the early weeks because it's smaller so it pumps less blood and each pump doesn't take as long.

My daughter's was 165 at our first ultrasoun, and is now usually in the 140's. My midwife said that's good.

Yupp normal mine went from 165 to 155 from 10 to 14+5.
The midwife will tell you if she's concerned, I wouldn't be worried unless it goes below about 100-110

My midwife said today that they actually like to see the babys heartrate fluctuate, even in one "sitting". I'm not exactly sure why...didn't ask...but I don't think you have anything to worry about!
