Any one else worried about chickenpox and other viruses?

Im much more worried this time round having a toddler and mixing with other kids. lo hasnt had chicken pox and i got it when i was bout 7 but didnt get it a lot- im worried about contracting it whilst pregnant-whats the harm to my baby?

Last week i wassupposedto meet a friend and her little girl at a soft play centre-the night before something told me not to go(this was last wednesday) On Sunday, she texts me saying that her little girl had chicken pox-thank God we didnt go!!

I know if youre going to get it, you'll get it but am i being over paranoid??

Ds1 had chickenpox when I was 8wks and ds2 had hand foot and mouth the week before that. When you have other children I don't think there's much you can do about it, they are going to pick things up especially if their at school or nursery. Dosent stop us worrying though I know!

Easiest thing to do is to ask your doc if you are immune, they will have tested for this when they took your 1st bloods, but you prob should be immune, but there is no harm in asking the doc, my DD1 had chicken pox when I was about 14 weeks, no nothing stops the worry but it was good to know I was immune

Even if you only had a few spots you'll still be immune to it hun. Some people might never have it and be immune. You can just ask your GP though for a test

I work with 2 to 4 year olds and so we have frequent outburst of all sorts of infections etc

In the US it's listed on the report as varicella. It should say positive if you have had it and have built up immunities to it.
I've never had chicken pox and sure enough mine was negative so I have to be extremely careful, hard to do having a toddler in dayschool. The nurse told me the 3 tri is the worst time to contract it.
Good luck I hope you have immunity to it.

*runs off to have a look in her folder!*

I have no clue looked in my folder but nothing makes any sense! When DD1 had chicken pox I just went to the doc, see looked on her computer and told me I was immune, sorry not much help! xx

Just googled the blood results, mine says:

VZV IgG antibody EIA Positive
Implies immunity to varicella primary infection

In normal words this means I'm immune to chicken pox, hope that helps xx
