I've noticed how ignorant people can be. I mean I have seen some lovely people. But, I mean even the horrible looks I get. I know I look young - like I'm 16, but I'm 21! I am engaged and have been with the same guy since School.

I've had kids run in to me, people hit me with their bags and then look at me like I walked in to them. I've had people walk out in front of me and barge me. People jump the queue for the bus and take a seat I was going to take. I find people quite rude now a days. I don't want much when out and about, just not to be hit or treated like I'm dirt! I am carrying a lot of weight!

I've had people walk behind me and then do the whole, sigh loudly and barge past me, like I've done something wrong! Heaven forbid I walk a little slower because I am so big!

There's me thinking it was only a small percentage of pregnant women that got ignored in these sort of situations!
Young mums and the smaller the bump!
I'm in both of these categories even though I don't think 24 (soon to be 25) is young, but I look young so am judged!

I work at the airport and have to get a staff bus to and from the staff carpark, as I work a 9-5 I usually have to get on a busy bus. Just recently the bus was full and we have 4 'less able' chairs which were occupied by baggage handlers (bulk guys that throw your luggage on a off planes) I paused for a couple of seconds and looked straight into all their eyes to see if they moved but they just returned the gaze. Luckily a woman behind then saw me and offered me her seat. As I was directly behind the baggage handlers I could hear the guys talking about me saying things like,
"if she's able to work then she's able to stand"
And
"she's not even that big AND she's young, she's just looking to be princessed"
I was raging by the time I climbed off the bus!!!

I was on a Glasgow to Aberdeen train a few weeks ago, which is almost a 3hour trip and had to sit/suffer at the bicycle area of the train as there was no seats. Even though I was FACING the seats which have the signs above them with a picture of a pregnant woman, and elderly person on them!! Again as other people have said, the people sitting there avoided eye contact the WHOLE way back, i was disgusted! And too make it worse the weather was really good that weekend, and it was ridiculously stuffy on the train

My OH gets angry but I just say a bit loud "if I faint from not sitting then the whole train goes out of service, and if people don't have the decency to not be asked/forced off their chair well f** them"
I've had women lurk around me on buses as if I should give them my chair. as soon as I ask them out right and they see the bump they soon vanish lol

People seem to be far to wrapped in themselves and think they are all owed something. Ive only ever needed to sit in the last 2wks since being pregnant and I'm not that big, bump wise, so seems I also get judged on the bump size.
I remember those seats from when I used to travel around london when I used to live in the UK, I never sat in one incase a preggers lady or elderly person came on board, I actually felt like I would be doing something really bad if I did. I remember offering my seat to preggers ladies on the tube and feeling sorry for them as the tube is a rough ride sometimes isn't it! It terrifies me at the thought of hanging onto those bars and being swung around... stay safe hun
It's horrible, and to think the amount I pay to get in and around London on the tube. Shocking. ha I've been holding onto the OH as will only travel rush hour with him, saves a load of problems.
I'm hoping people are a bit more considerate within the next few weeks, as I have to travel into London for the MW every 2 weeks from next month
I hope they are more considerate too, and it's not right to pay for a ticket and not get a seat, pregnant women should get discounted prices! There should be a 9 month pregnancy travelcard lol! It's annoying as you can't see what carrage you will get untill it's there infront of you and you have to rush on! Maybe you could grab an underground worker and ask them to help you onto the train as you are worried about being knocked over. That way maybe they will clear people out the way and make the train wait until you are seated... easier said than done I know. Or stand next to a women with a pram or kids as she will be more aware of your bump and maybe even help you. The amount of prams I used to help women carry up stairs! (I was a dancer in london and always felt able to lift unlike now lol!) The underground needs alot of work for mums and mums to be if you ask me.If you ever find yourself on an overhead train and there are no seats go and sit in first class, tell the ticket checker that there were no seats and I'm sure they won't move you I have more respect for the elderly and for people with disabilites now that I'm preggers, I never knew how hard getting around is if you are not 100% able like everyone else. Maybe take a pillow with you to hold infront of your bump for those bumpy rides and also it may make people aware that you need a seat. Sometimes exagerating your waddle and moaning a little as you hold your back can make people wake up too... we gotta do what we gotta do hun. If it gets too scary pay for a black cab instead I reckon.

Totally get you hun! I look like I'm sixteen too and I'm almost twentysix lol (might be due to the pink Eeyore t-shirt I wear alot lol... but it's comfy!) My Mama is 62 and looks 40 lol... good genes I guess! People look at me like I'm too young too, like they don't have to respect me because I'm in the wrong anyway!!! What's it to them anyway, and some women actually plan to have their babies very young... especially if they have been with the same guy for like forever! All my mates had their kids at age 17 or 18 and got married really young too, I can't imagine what it was like for them... it never crossed my mind untill I got 'the look' whilst out lol! When people sigh behind me I loudly say "I'm pregnant for gods sake!" And throw my arms in the air hehe!

TWATS!!!! How would they like it if their sisters, daughters and wives were treated this way! 24 isn't too young at all hun... getting the rest of the world to realise that is really hard! They probably felt guilty and were trying to hide behind their comments!

Shameful! What is wrong with eveyone! Next time tell the bus driver you need a seat and let him/her deal with them.

Yeah, My Mum works for TFL, I told her they should do a campaign on highlighting the point of the baby on board badges, and then if more people are aware there can be no excuse...

I once had this woman barge me out the way for a chair, and then had to pretend to be on her phone once she saw the bump. I've had people more than able to run for the train claim they need the seat, because of their large sizes can't stand.

I do think the public are very judgemental of if you appear to be young, or your bump isn't as large as they assume it should be for Xamount of weeks.

On that note OH wants to meet in Central London today at 6, soo I better get my pregnant millitant operation on.

You're soo lucky to be out of the great underground service of London haha

people are terrible! i wonder if the fact that women are really vocal about being able bodied when pregnant but we still need some consideration. i wonder if any of those seat takers would treat their pregnant wife or elderly relative the same way they treat you
