Most unusual name ...

Once I was at a playground with my kids and I heard a woman call

"Cinnamon"

I thought ooh, I can't wait to see what this puppy dog looks like -
then a little girl ran up!

What's the most unusual kids name you've ever heard?

La-a, pronounced La-dash-a. must be the most unusual name I've ever seen.

I don't know what it's like in other countries, but in Germany you can't call your kids anything that will obviously get them bullied...like Rapunzel, Satan, Grammophon, Tom Tom...there's an actual list of forbidden names and the registry office can veto a name choice...not sure what the actual process is if they don't like the name you've picked but I imagine some kind of jury would decide...it seems a bit silly, but then again we don't have any apples and cinnamons running around

I think some parents just don't think or care how a name will influence their kids later on and I think it's good there's some way to stop them

Yeah same in Australia, there is a no-go list and the right to veto silly choices.
We can't have 'junior' here either.

I just realized I'm making it sound like all unusual names are horrible...that's not true of course, even though we are going for more traditional names for our kids. We have the added difficulty that we want names to be pronounceable in English and German...so most really unusual names are out by default

I guess it always depends on where you are whether or not your name will be considered unusual...I mean, I'm sure my name would be unusual in China or India, you know?

Yep, seen some pretty weird ones. ABCDEF, pronounced "ab-sid-euf". That ones pretty out there. Or Obgyn. Because the sign that said OB/GYN was the last thing she saw before going into labor and delivery, so she picked it. lol!
