I don't see why pregnant people should park there, pregnancy is exactly that, its not an illness meaning you can't walk far.

There are plenty of other 'reasons' why people think they should be entitled to park closer etc, people who are fat, have cancer etc etc - the list is probably endless. You can't say yes to the pregnant person but no to the cancer sufferer with weeks left to live, or the obese person who struggles in and out of their car.

Just park in a quieter spot of the car park and walk - exercise is good for us!

I only park in them when I have Ben. I get so mad when I see people without babies or toddlers parking in them. I would personally park further away if I found it difficult to get in and out of the car in the normal spaces. I think if you struggle to walk or are in a lot of pain you should think about getting a home delivery as when I do my weekly shop it takes me about an hour and it's surprising how far you actually walk around the store.

Right now I wouldnt dream of parking in a mother and baby parking space but if I was to go to term as in 38+ weeks and I struggled to get out of the car I would park there... Don't know if this happens to many people but I always get my car perfectly centred in a space and then when I get back to my car some prat has left me with a 4 inch space to get back in!! I have countless times had to get into the passengers side and climb over!
Of course if DH is with me I'd simply get out of the car before he parked it and then get back in when he pulled the car out.

The real problem here ladies is that so many abuse the mother and baby spaces! People without children park in them all the time and I've known someone actually put their carseat in the car without taking their child so if anyone looked in they could see the carseat and they wouldnt get cautioned!

I think if you're about to drop and there are plenty of spaces it should be okay, but otherwise I wouldn't. I know how hard it was when my LO was a baby trying to get in and out of normal spaces with her and wouldn't abuse the spaces. There are loads of 'larger' people in the UK who are bigger than people with pregnancy bumps and I would think it was wrong for them to misuse the space. If you have spd or another problem with your prefnancy you should be able to have a temporary disability badge! I'd park further away or more over to the line at the other side to give myself space. The size of some spaces are ridiculous though and they really should make them all a wee bit bigger.

I'm in Scotland but completely agree this is more of a problem ^^^^^

The health centre where I go for my antenatal care is horrible for parking. It has tiny spaces. I've just started to get a bump but I know I will never be able to park in their car park. The spaces are far too small - dread to think what I will do when taking baby to appointments there. I have to park in street and walk in otherwise I won't be able to get into car! Crazy as I don't think our cars are getting smaller and the population is getting bigger so perhaps the planners need a re think x

Are spaces really that small where you are? I guess I'm lucky here in the US, our parking spaces are usually fairly large and I've almost never gotten blocked into one, except a handful of times where obviously the person cannot manage to park straight, that does get infuriating. There aren't that many places around here that have spaces for people with kids but the ones that do I've noticed are also for expectant mothers, usually they're closer to the store entrance and if not they're by the bays where you put the shopping cart. Personally I wouldn't care if a very pregnant woman took one of those spots, the only time I mind are when people who are not pregnant and don't have kids take them.

the spaces are so small probably because they dont want to buy more land when they need to expand the car parks due to population growth so they just cram as many spaces into the smallest space they possibly can everwere near me has generous sized spaces i can get the infant carrier out the back but when im bad with spd during pregnancys OH parks over 2 bays so i can opeen the door fully he goes away from the door to do it though and then i can open door fully and he can come and help me get out.

Well as someone else has said it does state on the Tesco parking permit that you can use the spaces when pregnant aswell, so if they haven't got a problem with it i don't see why anyone else does! We all know how hard pregnancy can be and some have it worse than others, so yeah I say use the space!! I used them when i was bigger and would do so again this time even if i didn't have LO with me. If anyone has a problem with anyone using the spaces it should be against people who have no children and NOT expecting either.

I don't care, I don't use them whether I'm 41 weeks or have my 2 year old with me. Not a big deal for me. If people wish to use them, why not? Perhaps the store should make it more clear (here, it says "familles seulement" meaning Families only with a stroller picture - others will say "stationnement enciente", Pregnancy parking).

I wonder why women with SPD are not given disability badges? I haven't had it myself but my mom uses a wheelchair, surely women with actual SPD qualify as well? Obvious impaired mobility due to a medical condition is eligible.
