In my opinion, I think it depends on the sign. At our local grocery stores there are spots for "Parents with Children AND Expectant Mothers" so if I am hugely pregnant, totally uncomfortable and unable to squeeze between two cars then I would feel fine parking in that spot. As the sign states they are not just for people with children.

Here those spaced are for expectant mothers and parents with young children so it is allowed here! And honestly... I dont see it as a bad thing. Sometimes being pg is so difficult with back problems, bladder problems, breathing problems, and so on and so fourth that if you can alleviate a little bit of extra walking, which also can lead to swelling and water retention... whats the big deal! Some 3-4 yr olds are more capable of doing the walk with their parents across the lot then a very pg woman is!

I shop at Tesco and Sainsburys and have never seen any parking spaces that are for expectant mothers, I will look out for them now on.

I am not pregnant but have quite young children and would not be at all bothered if I saw a heavily pregnant woman using the parent and children spots, she is a parent with a child after all

Just park in a quieter spot of the car park and walk - exercise is good for us!
if you read my post, its not because i literally want to park on the doorstep, its because i need the extra space by the sides of my car to physically enable me to get in and out of my car if other cars have parked too close. As it is, i find it difficult to walk long distances, but will happily do it if i have to.

When I joined Tesco baby club when I was pregnant with DS they actually sent me a badge to display in my windscreen that said something about being pregnant so being allowed to park there. So I think you're fine doing it.

The thing that really gets my goat is when people with children park there and then one adult goes into the shop and the other one stays in the car with the kids! I always want to say something but I'm never brave enough!

I read that already, I meant the other examples I gave were people who also needed extra space to manoeuvre around.

I read today that you can join the Tesco Mother and Baby club while pregnant and they will send you a permit for your car to enable you to park in their designated parents area whilst pregnant without child in tow. I've seen these areas in the larger 'Extra' stores, not the smaller ones.
