Permit or not, I don't think people without children (pregnant or otherwise) should be using these spaces! I think they should be more considerate of those who need to be close to their cars because they have babies + shopping to safely get to car or a toddler etc. I am big and uncomfortable now and have SPD meaning it is difficult to get in/out the car as it is without the added complication of someone parking too close to me but I still wouldn't use those spaces when I don't have my toddler as it's nothing compared to keeping my toddler safe which is what the spaces are for!

I don't think those who haven't had their children yet could possibly understand anyway!
Wow! I read this whole thread and must say this is the rudest response I've seen yet. Sure, you don't agree with it no need to be rude even if you're "not meaning to" Actually, here in the US we don't have any parking spots just bc you have a child. At least not around here. That would be amazing!! So count your lucky stars you even get one. And others have mentioned that they actually get approval from the STORE to park there when they are pregnant. Must not be too "inconsiderate" And to say "I don't think those who haven't had their children yet could possibly understand anyway" I believe OP actually DOES have a child so yes, I'm SURE she understands.

where I am from those types of spots are for parents and expectant mothers. But I too have been told by the mall that I work at that they are only courtesy and no one can get fined for parking in them , like in a handicap space.

Or try walking a tired, upset toddler across the carpark with traffic etc. with all your shopping and getting them into car then having to leave them in the car, panicking while you walk miles to take the trolley back. Parent and child spaces are close to the door/trolleys/pavement etc. for a reason!
ive been there and done all that so theres no need for your rudeness. Seriously, what is it with people being so bitchy on here? id never abuse or take advantage of things i shouldnt i was merely asking whether it would be ok to once in a while, park in these slots. Go and take a chill pill.

I avoid all these issues by having my shopping delivered! And will do especially as I get bigger!

I wouldn't use a parent and child bay. What really gets my goat is perfectly able people using disabled bays. Or the people with big cars who park across two bays because they can't bear the thought of someone opening their car door anywhere near their car.

OP, I say you park wherever you're legally allowed to. If anyone has that much of a problem with it... their loss. Life is too short to get worked up over something like OMG SOMEONE IS PARKING IN MY SPACE!!!11!

[When pregnant with my daughter I had the issue that people would park too close so I put a little sign in my drivers side window when I parked saying "pregnant driver, please don't park too close to drivers side". I felt like a bit of a wally displaying that in my car but I have to say it worked a treat and I never had any more issues! I'll be doing it again this time.[/QUOTE]

This is a really good idea!! I think I will make one aswell!!

I don't think you should park there. They're intended for children's use and not pregnant women. They only thing I can suggest is parking further to one side so you can get out easier.

I'm sorry darling, I'm struggling too but its unfair!
