Birth marks (have you thought about it?)

I never even thought about my kids having birth marks when i was pregnant until i had my 2nd daughter and she has quite a large red one on her bum cheek!! This made me glad in a way it wasnt on her face but still sad in a way that she will have to live with it. I know no one will ever see it til she has a boyfriend (when she is 95) lol but still !! Is there any way to prevent them? Are they genetic? My oh has a large brown circle on the back of his foot almost like a large freckle but i have none. Im just hoping this baby doesnt have one too

There is no genetics about it. It just happens. Also, I never really thought about it..

I thought the strawberries went away as children got older unlike moles. I could be wrong, but my little sister had two of them and they were gone by the time she was 10 years old, maybe 11. One was big and on her shoulder and it just got smaller and smaller. I have beauty marks, little brown spots and brown freckles that never go away. I actually have two freckles since birth on my lips on my face. I used to hate them as a kid, but now I kind of like them. No one else notices unless you get really close, and well I dont get so close to people LOL

I wouldnt worry about your daughters little red mark either, as it may actually go away...but I think beauty marks and freckles and other birth marks such as moles give you character. I was born with a dent thats very small at the top of my rear end, my mother always used to joke that if she had to identify me she could without having to see my face. I am biased though because I have them

My daughter had a red one on her forehead when she was born. The doctor said it would fade with time and it has. It's life and lots of babies/young children have them.

i think it can be genetic both me and my cousin have ones practically identical mine is above my right boob and her's is on her side. Mine was very bright red and although it has faded now you can feel it's different. LO just had the red mark on his neck which is covered by hair anyway.

I have a birth mark on my left arm. It was very bright growing up, but now it's pretty light. I personally like mine as it's just a part of who I am. I also have freckles and moles here and there. It makes us unique.

Also, kind of a bit of folklore, but supposedly a birth mark is supposed to signify how you died in a previous life. Kind of drives the imagination wild.
