does anyone have (or thinking of getting) an oyster stroller?

after deciding the icandy peach is just too much money I think i've decided on getting an oyster stroller with a maxi cosi car seat for when baby is young. (i'm just not keen on using a carry cot for some reason??? haha)

Does anyone have any experience with these prams? I have read online reviews but would love to hear some of your opinions

I have an Oyster for DS. I like it as it's light, compact, easy to use, can steer one handed (round supermarket with basket in other hand). The carrycot is recommended as babies should be flat if they are going to be out for any length of time (the position they are in in the car seat isn't ideal for either their spine or breathing). The Oyster seat part isn't suitable til 6 months as it doesn't lie flat.

thank you I only really plan on using the pram for car journeys but maybe it is best to get a carry cot after what you said.

why don't you like the carrycot's there much better for babies back than car seats, which are okay for short periods but not longer. I tried to keep LO laid flat till 6 months but he was far too big to still fit

I really like the look of the oysters but i couldn't justify buying one brand new since i already have a pushchair. maybe i could get one 2nd hand ..... LOL!

its only because I only plan on using the pram for car journeys as I don't want to take my young baby out much and I am going to get a sling for short journeys. I just seen it as an extra expense. My friend got one and said she used it like twice and it put me off. I don't know though I do want my baby to be flat and not in an awkward position so I may reconsider.

One thing to consider with the carrycot:

When my daughter was a baby we had a moses basket in our bedroom and had the pram put together, with carry cot, downstairs in the lounge.

Every time she went to sleep downstairs or I needed to put her down I'd use the carry cot and she slept lovely in there. Also because she was so used to it at home she didn't mind being in it when we went out.

Oh btw we had an Oyster with her and will be using it again this time

2 of my friends have oysters and love them. I would say it is best to get the carrycot though. Also if you like the oyster check out The pram Centre's own version it's very similar, a fair bit cheaper and comes with the carrycot.

TBH I used the carrycot in the house downstairs for daytime sleeps more than as a pram as my son has reflux and didn't like being flat when awake.

I use a woven wrap when out and about (have a look in natural parenting for sling advice - a lot of the high street carriers are a bit limited in how long you can comfortably use them, an ergo or manduca etc lasts longer and is better for your back, and baby's back and hips. See slingguide.co.uk for info)

Hello

I've just bought an oyster from ebay! I love it. Im planning on buying the carrycot brand new and a maxi cosy car seat too.

We're a member of Which? and i checked out their reviews, Oyster came second - (mammas and papas sola came first) and a friend of mine has an oyster so it as a no brainer for me. took me a while to get one on ebay without spending a fortune, i spent £150 on the stroller, frame, changing bag, mat, cup holder, colour pack and snack tray.

I dont mind second hand for when they are a little older but wanted new for my newborn, hence going to buy the carrycot new and use in the same way other ladies have described, as a sleeping place downstairs so will get plenty of use
