I'll - what medicine?

I am really I'll

Headaches, bunged up, sore throat and keep coughing up phlegm. Am taking paracetamol but have been since Tuesday.

If I see a doctor could I get anti-biotics? Or is that another thing pregnant people are not allowed?

Any suggestions, it hurts to breathe and I can't stop crying!

Am drinking hot water with lemon and honey, any another remedies?

sounds like a gneral cold to me
docs cant do anything pregnant or not as you cant take flu remedies during pregnancy

best thing to do is drink hot blackcurrant for the sorethroat
out your head over a bowl of boiling water with a towel over your head so you can breath in the steam to relieve you airwaves
paracetamol for the headache it should pass soon the coughing is good cos it means that you are coughing all the rubbish up off your chest which is making u unwell just try and spit it out dont swallow it back down again it comes up for a reason same as runny nose dont sniffle it up its running stuff out cos your body doesnt want it :-)

hope your feeling better soon hun

I'm not sure but I think if you have pain breathing you should go to the GP because you might have a bit of a chest infection? Or it might just hurt if you've been coughing a lot. I'm not a medically person or anything. I had a horrible cold a few weeks ago and I just kept drinking so much water and I mean loads and it really helped me to keep temperature down and get rid of it all.
Really hope you feel better soon
Take care xx

Hey hun. I’ve been sick with bronchitis all week. Feel terrible. Sore throat, horrible cough, headache, body aches, fatigue. I went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me antibiotics. Zithromax (also known as a z-pak). This antibiotic is a Class B drug. Meaning there is no evidence of it causing harm in pregnancy. I will take this for 5 days. He also said I could take robitussin DM for cough and tylenol for headache/body aches.

I feel a little better today but the headache is persistent... And I”m not sleeping well due to the cough.

I was supposed to go see my grandparents this weekend for Easter but I’m stuck at home ill... Makes me so sad.

Hope you feel better soon! I feel your pain!

You can use decongestant nasal sprays to clear your nose and dry up the sniffle, which usually has the added bonus of clearing your sinuses and helping to get rid of the headache that comes with being bunged up. I think it said on the side of the bottle not to use while pregnant but my doctor and pharmacist told me it's fine.

The only other medicinal thing is paracetamol, really.

It's worth going to the doctors if it hurts to breathe though and get them to have a listen to your chest in case it's something more than a cold. You can take antibiotics while pregnant but obviously if it's not caused by an infection of some kind then antibiotics won't do anything.

Thanks everyone for your messages. I called the out of hours doctor yesterday afternoon and finally got a call back at midnight! They wanted me to go to a clinic they have at the hospital which has emergency doctors in. So they listened to my chest and I have a bad chest infections so have been given some anti-biotics to take for the next week.

I'm going to spend the day in bed and relax, hospitals are not fun especially at 2'o clock in the morning!

Thanks again ladies for your tips
