I know this is probably silly but this is my first pregnancy. We're clearing out our house getting ready to start the nursery so I've been boxing things up and lifting things around. Helping OH put things in the loft etc but I'm so frightened I'm doing something I shouldn't and damaging the baby.
I'm not lifting anything majorly heavy just your average boxes etc. can someone tell me that I'm not doing any harm or should I do as little, which I don't want to do because I should be helping
Others will give you better advice but in my mind so long as you don't feel you are over exerting yourself then generally you are fine. Don't lift really heavy things which make you strain. Don't carry on if you feel dizzy or sick or out of breath and be careful with stretching and twisting.
My husband is really precious with me about moving things which is nice! Heaviest thing he will let me lift is my handbag
we have been doing the same thing all week, id to clear out our bedroom for oh to paint the other day n put everything back today an and today was the nursery, i got kinda sore on my tum down low but been having streching pains for few days now so i think its more to do with them, on the couch resting now told oh i didnt know if i was doing too much or what but im kinda uncomfy so gonna go rest, u know ur body n listen to it if u feel u have done enough oh will understand, since i sat down ive been feelin baby move loads, glad i did now as feel way better now, if ur able to keep goin do, but dont paint or anything sil say telling me the other day on her first pregnancy she moved furniture with her mam n tore her placenta n was in hospital for 2 weeks, just be careful n try not to streach
Phew! Thanks girls, feeling abit tires now so might have a rest. I know OH doesn't mind at all but I hate seeing him do all this hard work and me not feeling like I'm helping. Poor bloke is up boarding the loft out!
We had the decorators in for our two bedrooms a month or two ago and everything had to be moved. I felt terrible sitting here doing nothing while he huffed and puffed with furniture up and down the stairs. He didn't have one word of complaint though which would have been worse!
To be honest I think my husband actually enjoys looking after me. I try to do what I can - dishes and tidying up to keep the place nice.
