Am I doing harm?

I know this is probably silly but this is my first pregnancy. We're clearing out our house getting ready to start the nursery so I've been boxing things up and lifting things around. Helping OH put things in the loft etc but I'm so frightened I'm doing something I shouldn't and damaging the baby.

I'm not lifting anything majorly heavy just your average boxes etc. can someone tell me that I'm not doing any harm or should I do as little, which I don't want to do because I should be helping

???

I would say if your not straining yourself your fine. I mean you can lift weights (with restrictions) while pregnant and people with other kids carry them around, so this is not to much different.

Hi there

Others will give you better advice but in my mind so long as you don't feel you are over exerting yourself then generally you are fine. Don't lift really heavy things which make you strain. Don't carry on if you feel dizzy or sick or out of breath and be careful with stretching and twisting.

My husband is really precious with me about moving things which is nice! Heaviest thing he will let me lift is my handbag

I see it as my time to be pampered and lazy

I definitely think it's going to be ok. Pregnancy sure would be hell if we could hurt the baby so easily in our everyday lives.

Phew! Thanks girls, feeling abit tires now so might have a rest. I know OH doesn't mind at all but I hate seeing him do all this hard work and me not feeling like I'm helping. Poor bloke is up boarding the loft out!

I know the guilt is rubbish!

We had the decorators in for our two bedrooms a month or two ago and everything had to be moved. I felt terrible sitting here doing nothing while he huffed and puffed with furniture up and down the stairs. He didn't have one word of complaint though which would have been worse!

To be honest I think my husband actually enjoys looking after me. I try to do what I can - dishes and tidying up to keep the place nice.
