Can us pregnant women eat packaged smoked salmon? I'm confused

I know there are certain foods to avoid in pregnancy and raw fish is among them, however I am a little confused about something. Sorry if I seem a bit thick here

You know the packaged smoked salmon you get in supermarkets (in slices and says ready to eat), does this count as raw fish which should be avoided? I have researched it online and I'm getting mixed answers, some say it is fine others say to avoid it.

Anyone??

the NHS guidance says the risk is low
I've eaten smoked salmon recently and in my last pregnancy with no problems.

I'd say if you are worried, don't eat it for peace of mind.

Smoked salmon is fully cooked fish. Hot smoked salmon is typically cooked to 145 degrees, then quick frozen or canned to preserve and ship. Cold smoked salmon is cooked to 80 degrees, then cured. Cold smoked is still raw, so it has to be frozen for parasite control. Some people use alder wood for smoking. Smoked salmon also has lower mercury content than other larger meaty fish such as swordfish and shark, making it a safer choice for fish rich in omega-3.

I've eaten it quite often. NHS guidance is that it's alright occasionally but does say some people may choose to avoid it. But you don't have to - its one of my treats so I am pleased I can have it! In fact I'm having some tomorrow
