UK Parents, Surestart Grant

Anyone got any experiences of this? I know you can apply at 29 weeks onwards.. Although I will have most neccesities by this time, I plan to get baby wardrobe and drawers with it and also their chair and mat, how long does it take to come through etc?

From being sent, usually around 3 weeks. You do have to be in receipt of benefit though, otherwise they will not let you have it.

We had to wait till my son was born to apply as we didn't qualify before then. It took nearl 3 months to come through.

Oh I see, and Yeah my midwife has told me I qualify as I get income support due to being a full time personal carer which does not allow me to have a full time job at the minute. Thanks for the help.

Get the application now, fill it out. Give it to your MW and she'll send it off when the time is right. You then receive a letter within 2 weeks and get your money about 3 days later..

I think you can only get this grant now if there are no other children under the age of 16 in the household.

I don't have anyone under the age of 16 but I'm pretty certain that aslong as it is your first child and you are in receipt of benefit, you will qualify
