Confused about conflicting messages re carrying high/low

Afternoon All

This is my first baby, and I don't have any babies in my family or friends, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I@m 24 weeks tomorrow, and for the last 6 weeks or so, everyone has commented on how very high I am carrying - my bump comes out right underneath my boobs and is prominent even though I have a BMI of 37

However, when I had my last scan, the ultrasound lady said baby was sitting 'extremely low' and had to scan almost off my belly right at the bottom. I also only feel kicks below my actual sticky out belly - at the line where the belly joins my unstretched body. She doesn't move around much but kicks me at my pubic line constantly.

How can baby be so low but my tum at the top be so high? Or am I being stupid? It's almost like my tum between my belly button and boobs is stretched tighter than at the bottom, and I am very confused!

THANK YOU for any responses/ideas

Linz x

Honey, in my pregnancy with my son I had a BMI of 32 i looked preggy from 14 weeks by 18 weeks every person was asking when I was due this was dispite carrying low but what happened was the baby pushed my tummy fat into a shelf below by boobs as you go on it will spread to the sides or it did with me then everyone will say "oh it must be a girl" dont let it worry you

It's probably all of the organs and such that is pushed up.
I'm also on the fluffier side, and my upper stomach looks very big even though I still feel most movement and kicks pretty low or just at my waist.
Everything above that is just all of my organs and fat that has been pushed up

It's weird isn't it?! Haha - I'm used to my tum being wobbly, and now, even though I am BIG now, my tum is rock hard, apart from that delightful wobbly apron at the bottom that sits on the baby bump like a wonky beret

I'm glad it's not just my body being weird, at least - everyone says 'OMG, you're carrying so high!' and I keep thinking 'Yep. Carrying fat high. And Easter Eggs.'
