have to give away puppy

we adopted a Australian Shepard puppy when she was 8 weeks old and now shes 5 months old and we cannot keep her... one because our place is too small, were moving to a diff state before the baby comes and its too much for us to handle because she makes soo much noise and jumps and were worried when the baby comes it wont be right for her...Did anyone else have to give away there puppy when they were pregnant.. and later on did u feel u did the right thing or no? Thanks ladies, im having a real hard time with this

I'm sorry to sound harsh but you've had your dog for 3 months and you're 4 months pregnant. Did you not consider the consequences before getting the puppy? Shes still so young, of course she makes noise and jumps but a bit of effort with training will correct that. But saying that if you are prepared to throw the towel in this easily with the puppy I guess you're better doing it now before she's older and gets anymore attached to you.

I know this sounds hard but it really seems to me that getting rid of a pet is first resort for some instead of last and it makes me sad and angry.

Why get a pet if you had no intention of putting in any effort? I'm sorry, that's just irresponsible. How do you plan on getting rid of it?

if you do the math, she may not have even known she was pregnant at the time. Just thought I'd point that out, because she'd have only been 5-6 weeks pregnant

With just the baby coming I would say getting rid of the dog is a little unnecessary, but with moving and everything else it might be what has to be done. The puppy will have to readjust during the move, and then adjust again when the baby comes. It might not be fair to the puppy to keep it when you cant give it the attention it deserves

was thinking pretty much exactly the same lines as yourself best of luck finding a new home for ur puppy, obviously u feel its the right thing to do n better off getting rid of de pup sooner rather than later for your sake as well as de dogs

I agree with all of the OP's.

On one hand, the puppy deserves for you to at least TRY...this dog may be the best friend your child could of ever had. Why not make an effort to work with him/her and see if you make any progress? If not then you would have to rehome the puppy but right now you've got no idea how the dog will even react...

There are options to getting rid of the dog.. training, for one. Talking about giving the dog away should be the LAST resort, not the first. Nothing about the OP's post suggests that she's attempted anything. All I see is someone who wants to get rid of their dog now that it's no longer any fun.

yeah sorry no help...I would never give up any of my furbabies...we just trained ours not to jump and the command be gentle and so on...babies adapt and will sleep through anything..I sure dont want to tip toe around for fear of waking or disturbing LO...My older two have awesome sleep schedules and sleep through storms lol...I think you should reconsider you have five months to train your puppy...Aussies are VERY smart.

i have a jack russell and a lab (who i got at 4 months old when my daughter was 6 months)
they are very active and it is not easy to train a dog with a toddler.
didnt you know an australian shepard is one of the smartest and most active dogs?
my daughter loves her dogs, and they are very good trained and do not jump up. it takes a lot of work. the baby will get used to dog noises. we are about to move from fL to hi, with a 3 months old, a two yr old a 8 yr old jack ruseell and a 2 yr old lab. it is not cheap or easy, but i would never consider giving my dogs up because of it.

I being a fellow animal lover.. Feel esp for a first time mom and dad... Its best to give up a puppy to someone who can properly train and give the puppy the attention. It may not be the easiest choice but sometimes its better. Cause when your up all nite with a baby and you have to juggle the baby and every day task there becomes no time i feel for a puppy who also requires just as much attention as a baby. I have a almost 4yr old dog who i wont give up even tho i think it will be hard but she a adult already fully trained. Shes already jealous some of my time and attention is taken away from her but im sure with time she will cope with that.
