Hair dye..

Has anyone ever dyed there hair whilst pregnant ? I picked up a hair dye today in boots but I felt bad so put it back. I haven't dyed my hair since December and feel horrible with these ugly roots just wondering if it is actually something that is a major no no ?

The only problem with dyeing hair is that your hair and skin may react to it differently than they do when you're not pregnant, so do a patch test first!

My hair has been getting bleached white and then dyed through one and a half pregnancies now - it's a little bit drier this time round and it aggravated my eczema but other than that, all is normal!

I dyed my hair a few days after conception not thinking about it. It didn't take right so should have been my first clue about the pregnancy. I got it redone at 12 or 13 weeks and had them darken it some so I wouldn't have to get it done as much. I made sure the products were ammonia free and they used foils to keep it off my scalp. I always have it done professionally. My midwife said it was totally fine. She said make sure to go early in the morning so that there are less fumes.

I would think as long as you pick ammonia free dye, wear gloves, and make sure to been in a well ventilated room you should be ok. I haven't heard anyone say their doctor said anything different. Just wait till your out of first tri is the only thing I have actually heard. I just specifically asked about a salon.

I dyed my hair all through my pregnancy with my son. I haven't this time...mostly out of laziness but also because I wonder how long I can go without it and if I wait long enough by the time the baby is born my natural color will have grown in. My natural color is actually quite nice so I am waiting to see if the dye will all be grown out by the time she is born...

My hair just took color weird. I am a dirty blond and dye it just a brighter blonde. I normally take towards the ashy side but now it goes more towards the golden. For it to look right she would have to just change the mix but I opted to go with the more natural dark look. My hair is also growing far faster than it did pre pregnancy and I didn't feel like, or really want to color it that much. Most of my friends that color their hair also went more towards their natural color till after delivery for the same reason.
