I believe that Emma's Diary (if you're in the UK, you should have this booklet) has a couple of lists in it: for "essentials" and "it would be nice to have these". I don't have my book on me now as I'm travelling but could dig it out and type up the lists when I return home if you'd like.

Edited to add: Oh, never mind. Cassarita and MrsKtobe have put up their lists. Thank you, ladies. That is incredibly helpful!

hubby and I made a list together based on search online plus friends and family recommendation. It's an excel file and we've also added how much about each item will cost us. We started it a month ago and we're putting money aside each paycheck towards it.

I like to be organized about that sorta things

One thing that I forgot on my list, and don't see on anybody else's list either, is baby over the counter meds like fever reducers, gas relievers etc. etc. I'm pretty sure I'm going to want a few items like that on hand instead of having to run to the store for them!

That's a good suggestion.
