Not Breast Feeding Question

I've decided that I probably won't be Breast Feeding but my friend told me that you still have to express up to a week after birth - that if I don't it will turn sour and could cause infection. I thought if I started expressing then would be harder to stop?

My mum said that isn't true as she didn't Breast Feed that it just stops producing by itself, that you don't have to express.

What is true? Will I have to still express - should i buy a breast pump?

xx

Lol no, you don't need to pump. You'll get sore full breasts that will leak but you will naturally stop producing milk after a couple of weeks

You do need to buy a whole bunch of breast pads though cause the leaking is crazy. Nobody warned me lol.

Be prepared for sore, swollen, hard breasts though if you don't bf or pump. It will take a while to dry up.

No, there's no need to pump. I didn't BF my first and I was rather full and a bit painful for a bit with major leakage. The only thing I would say to invest in is breast pads so you don't leak through anything.

Sorry but your mate is talking rubbish! lol
if you are not breastfeeding you should not express at all it will only encourage your boobs to keep making more milk. just leave them and wear breastpads and within a few days it will go itself. x

Yep no pump required, like others have said you'll need breast pads and if like me with my son, you'll need em around day 3 when you are a cross between Jordan and Dolly Parton! (and very sore) lol
