I am kind of relaxed, I have the odd starbucks frappachino but I ask for one less squirt of coffee! I have fizzy drinks a couple of times a week etc

I have eaten smoked salmon, and brie and goats as well but they had been heated in the oven for ages

But alcohol I haven't, purely because the smell makes me feel really sick! I really fancy i nice glass of pimm's though! Might treat myself on my birthday!

Oh and if i have a fried or a poached egg its always a little runny!

There is no point in beating yourself up about it!

I really do agree with chloelouise, there is a point at which we're in danger of worrying TOO much. Most of these guidelines are set using only the smallest proportion of cases compared to healthy pregnancies, and with it being such a delicate and important subject, authorities and med pro's will err on the side of caution, therefore scaremongering to some extent.
A lot of these guidelines are from more modern times when accountability has gotten to ridiculous levels. Years ago, our parents and grandparents etc had plenty of healthy children whilst doing many things we have been told not to. Of course there are exceptions, but they are just that and I think often it's easy for us to blame ourselves for something entirely out of our control going wrong based on what we have or haven't done, when really, it is just part of nature

I don't actually like most of the food on the do not eat list, and I'm not a big drinker anyway, so I won't start now. If this summer gets really nice and hot I don't think I'll say no to a small glass of cider though...then again, I do like the alcohol free kopparberg too, so might just get that.

I don't think a glass here and there will do any harm, but at the same time I don't feel like I need it, so why take the chance.

You know that show "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant"? Well those girls obviously do EVERYTHING wrong, they drink, they smoke, drink coffee, eat lunchmeat (horrors) and 99% of the time their babies are born PERFECT.

Meanwhile I'm sitting there watching with my cup of decaf tea that tastes like crap and I'm like "WHY am I doing this?" lol

I think there is a big difference between doing something that "probably wont" harm your baby (like the odd glass of wine, runny eggs etc), and doing something that "probably will" (and have been scientifically proven to) harm your baby like smoking cigarettes, drinking large amounts of aclohol etc.

I don't think all of the guidelines are silly, some are there for a very good reason. But I do agree that many of them are over the top and not really much evidence to support the reasons not to.

A small glass of wine sounds pretty much amazing right now...I think I need to get the courage up to ask my doctor what she thinks!

i'm pretty relaxed about what I eat and drink (non alcohol wise) only avoiding undercooked meat and soft cheese, but to be honest they aren't things I would usually eat anyway...

but I haven't had a drink. there's no guarantee's and therefore i'd just prefare to avoid it just in case, I'll make up for lost time once baby is here I don't begrudge anyone the odd glass of wine though, just do whatever you feel comfortable doing, as long as it not drinking copious amounts obviously. I'd just personally rather avoid it. Plus I fear one glass would quickly turn into a bottle for me

Thanks for all the replies. I thought I was going to get my arse kicked so it's nice to see I am not alone. I am so much more relaxed during this pregnancy (just as well with a 9 month old) and I am enjoying it far more. Interesting stuff about caffeine as well. Cheers for that.

Hehe, just a warning but these threads almost always do turn nasty! There is always one who thinks that they know best and that there is no other way except their way if it does start going in that direction then probably best just to ignore them lol
