I love fruit smoothies but cant really afford all the fruit! We always have bananas in the house for the kids and sometimes some grapes if they are on offer, in fact i worry about what they are getting more than me! x

i get fruit that's in season, so its at its best price. Also, usually a bag of apples or oranges. I usually have some sort of fruit for a snack, or I make a fruit smoothie. Yum. For the smoothies, I use ice, fruit (fresh or frozen), yogurt, and some juice, and blend it up. Very healthy and yummy. I try to do a salad or something healthy like that for lunch. I am not the best at fitting in veggies other than making sure I get a good salad. I try to do the darker greens, like spinach or spring mix lettuces, peas, broccoli, etc in my salad.

Also, with it being nice out for grilling, we have been grilling a lot more which are usually healthier meals. I buy big packs of meat when they are on sale (the grocery store I go to often does B1G1 on a select meat of the week. This week was pork chops, for example.) and I divide them up at home into small freezer bags. We usually just pour some marinade in the bag when it is thawing, or we grill using spices. If we grill, I usually try to make a veggie and a pasta side dish. I like cold pasta salad with lots of veggies and cheese in it.

Hope those ideas help

You can use frozen fruit for smoothies and that's way cheaper. It doesn't make a difference in taste either way. If I can't afford fresh, I go get a few bags of whatever frozen fruit is cheap or on sale. And I don't even really use that much fruit per smoothie, since I also use ice, juice, and yogurt. I think maybe like 1/2 cup to 1 cup of fruit.

def salad! usaully cheap too, low fat cottage cheese (used to hate that, but mix it with a tablespoon of jam, or some pineapples.. its amzing. yogurts! lean meats, lots of chicken. in season veggies are usaully nicely priced.. even better if you find a fresh produce market, they tend to be cheaper i think.

I agree with the smoothies.. not expensive for me when I buy frozen fruit and mix it with milk, yogurt, and ice.

Also, I try to eat a lot of eggs. I'll hard boil them and keep them in the fridge for snacks or scramble them with spinach.

Another things I started doing is making healthy snack mixes to keep around on hand so when I'm hungry I can just grab that instead of junk food. I'll mix together raw almonds, dried cranberry, sunflower seeds and such.. and sometimes I even throw in some chocolate chips because I can't help myself

Umm I'm complete opposite, I thought of anything fried or sugary makes me gag
For breakfast I eat 1/2 cup oats cooked in water, if I'm feeling hungry I cut a banana. Snack is usually some grapes/apple/kiwi etc. Lunch is low sodium corn wrap with a bit of chicken breast(1 breast can last the week for me). Packed with LOTS of leafy greens, tomato, cucumber and if I'm really hungry carrots and avocado. Snack is also some sort of fruit. Dinner varies cause I eat with DH for that but tonite we're eating Gyoza, I usually have 4 of them and a plate packed full of steamed cauliflower, broccoli and carrots. I only drink water as well.
