Funny looking 4D scan, advice please:-(

Had a private anomaly scan today at 19w and told all was fine... But looking at the 4d pic I can only see half a right arm on the baby... I am crying my eyes out here as I am really worried that they have missed it.

I am frantically trying to find somewhere that will scan me on a saturday but can't find anywhere. Live in Manchester if anyone has any bright ideas.

Just don't know what to do, and now upset my husband as well.

I don't think the picture is very clear Hun, I think they would have noticed this. Do you have your 20 week scan coming up anyway? Picture really isn't clear enough thou and I can't even make out what's what in parts so try not to worry x

Sorry see what you probably mean now but I'd say that is a normal arm, othersie if was only half then it would be pretty long!! Baby is still growing and you just ant see elbow joint clearly I'd say x

Did they not explain what everything was in the photo?

I am not a pro on 4d's but it looks like the whole arm to me. I think I am seeing fingers it in too. I just know how they get the image and sometimes its not as clear because of everything the waves have to go through. But I am sure they saw the baby moving and they could tell if something looked off.

Looks like a full arm to me too... But elbow join just isn't clear... Looks proportionate to a baby's arm and can see fingers I think so don't worry... They would have said something if there was anything wrong

you can see lots of different layers on 4D's so they can give you some odd pics sometimes. With my DS you could see different parts of his arm, right down to the two bones in his fore-arms in some areas, was very weird. I really wouldnt worry tho hun, even tho obviously this has upset you and your husband.

I sometimes think the usual 2D scans are far more clearer, especially when looking for details. x

i think you will be fine hun, it was an anomaly scan you went for and if something did look wrong i'm sure they would've said at your appointment! it's not something they would easily miss even in my 12 week scan the sonographer pointed out all the limbs as they check for basic anatomy at that point, maybe its just a funny angle? ive never had a 4d scan before

I just googled 4D ultrasounds at 19 weeks and you can get some weird photos.

There was another lady with a similar worry about a 4D scan a few weeks back where the arm looked 'missing'. They would have picked up any major issue like that. It's just the way the photo picks up the image, don't worry. Your little one is fine - it's just the angle and the way the image has rebounded back.
