severe back and hip aches and grinding...?

Hi ladies

I have always suffered from bad back and hips as i was growing up and it was worse when i had to carry alot of weight plus around my monthly cycles it woudl ache more.

I am back at the weight i was before i lost weight now im pregnant but the pain is excruciating. I practicaly cant move if i have been sitting down for a long time. When im walking im hobbling and woddling like a bloody penguin! The pain starts in my lower back, above my bum and radiates through to my hips and then down my hips into my legs, normaly resulting in a back spasm.

What i have noticed recently though is aswell as this pain i am experiencing a grinding feeling in my hips/pelvis as i walk.. is this normal for the extra weight gain or do you think i should get it checked out??

Thank you in advance x

went to the docs. ive had it sinc ei was 16 (severe muscular wear and tear from martial arts)

they had to assess the pain. the only thing you can do for it, is warm baths, keep hydrated (when i dont have enough water its worse!) and move about. even standing feet shoulder width apart and rotating your hips slowly works x

I'm suffering with bad back and hip pain this time around. Even lying in bed can make my back hurt so much and at times, it's really hard to walk because of the pain in my hips.

I looked up symptoms of SPD as it's common during pregnancy and it sounds like it could be that. Either way, if it's hurting you that much then see your Dr - especially if paracetamol doesn't ease it or if it's constant. If nothing else, it'll put your mind at ease

Hi
more than likely you have SPD, I have this and have had it with my last 2 LOs. Its horrid but goes away (for me anyway) within a few days of LO arriving. My symptoms with it are...... grinding/clicking in between and around my hips, unable to stand after resting even for a short time, walking up stairs is a nightmare, cant lift legs one at a time, cant get in the bath, inability to sleep without millions of pillows between my legs, unable to walk for longer than a few mins without clicking and pressure pains and a really annoying limp although i didnt have this the last 2 times. You can get a physio referal where they will give you a band round your hips (no help for sitting tho ) and maybe crutches if like me you have a limp. Other than that nothing really helps unfortunately just try and sit to get dressed and take it easy as excersize will aggrivate it for days afterwards although you wont feel it too much whilst doing it. Take care hope it goes soon for you x
