Just saw a really loud action movie on the IMAX - will it hurt baby's ears?

I just saw a loud action movie for 2.5 on the IMAX. It was really loud, and baby was kicking throughout! Is there any chance of it hurting baby's developing ears? Now I'm worried.

I think your good. I have read that you can attend rock concerts and those are way louder. Babies can react to sounds/vibrations so I am sure thats why you felt all the movement.

It probably irritated him or her but I doubt it caused damage.

I told my dr about attending concerts this summer and he said as long as I stay far away from any speakers and stay out of the middle of a big crowd then the baby should be fine.

I did the same today and my LO was moving around too. I have read that the only way you will damage the baby's ears is if you are around 100-150 decibels continuously.. that's like being right next to a motorcycle engine (100 db) up to a jet engine (140db).
I'm allowed to go to the indoor shooting range once a week and baby is fine.. just not too much, and that place is soooo loud.
Your LO was probably just enjoying the movie!

No hun, I'd say baby's just fine I don't think those speakers are loud enough to cause any hearing damage inside the womb. Baby is still very well cushioned by layers of fat/ab muscle/womb/amniotic fluid, they are hardy little things!

Should be fine. I would only be concern if it is everyday situation like workplace: http://www.inspq.qc.ca/pdf/publicati...y_Abstract.pdf

true but sometimes fluids can amplified certain sounds from my experience. I can't hear a single sound without aids, but when I am in the bathtub underwater, and my husband and son bang on something I can hear it slightly when I can't when I am not underwater.

You'll be fine, we're going to see Plan B at the end of June and I'll just sit towards to side away from the main crowd

Oh that's true, should have thought of that, my brother was born profoundly deaf as a result of rubella and says the same thing. I think there are mucous plugs in the ears and nostrils before birth, though.
