So I'm talking to a friend on MSN about growth scans and the accuracy of them and it has me wondering...I had a scan last wednesday and my doctor said baby is looking to be weighing in around 6lbs7oz..I know they say that they aren't 100% accurate but now it has me wondering..what are the chances of me being induced on Thursday and having a 4lbs baby. I know some women whose doctors have said 8lbs and they end up only having a 6lbs baby or so...so I'm a bit worried of having a tiny baby because we dont have an Neonatal Unit here, baby would have to be air lifted to the nearest one and according to my doctor I'll only be 37weeks and 4 days (even tho my dating scan says I will be 38 weeks)
TBH im not a big believer that growth scans are accurate.
I had my final growth scan with Taylor at 37+2 weeks and they said she was 8lb 4oz. She was born at exactly 40 weeks weighing 8lb 4.5oz, so either she gained no weighed in the final 2 n a bit weeks or she weighed 6/7lb is at 37 weeks.
So far this 1 is a big heffer. At 30+5 she weighs 4lb 11oz which is on the large side of well 'normal', this excessive growth is due to the fact i have Gestational Diabetes and baby is absorbing a lot of sugar.
A friend of mine had her growth scan the day before she delivered, they said 7lb 14, he weighed 10lb 2oz. So it can go either way, they say too small or too big.
It totally worries me because I read of all these girls that are 33 weeks along and their babies are measured at like 5lbs already and here my LO is getting ready to come out in 4 days and s/he is only weighing just over 6lbs so s/he could be wayy less, hopefully more tho
