When Does Your Cervix Start to Thin?

I guess everyone is different, but when (how many weeks) does you cervix normally start to thin?
Is it a gradual process over a couple of weeks, or is it quicker and happen over a couple of days?

I think it's different for everyone. Some women can walk around dilated for days or weeks. With my last two, I didn't dilate until I went into "actual labor". It all just depends on your body.

I have been 1 cm dilated and 75% effaced since 37 weeks. I did not feel anything when I actually dilated... and I have had lots of cramping/pressure since that I could have sworn was associated with dilation and effacement... but, NOPE! But, I believe everyone is different!

I didn't get checked until I was 36w5d and when they did check me I was 1/2 cm dilated and 70% thinned. 2 days later at 37 weeks I had my baby boy!!

It varies. I didn't expect to have my baby 2 days after my doctors appointment because I wasn't dilated much, but it happened fast. Some women go fast, and some don't.
