Ever since about 13 weeks pregnant I've had sharp pains at the top of my leg, but now they are even worse and shooting down from my bum all the way down my legs. They hurt most when im walking or turning over in bed. Also got pain on the right side of my back
Sounds like sciatica. In pregnancy it can be caused by the hormone relaxin and can get worse as the baby bump gets heavier. Try googling pelvic girdle pain, SPD and pregnancy sciatica x ps its worth getting a physio referral- it really helped me. Good luck x
Sounds like you have a pinched sciatic nerve, maybe in your lower back area, seeing as you also have pain in your lower back. The shooting pain down your leg is a pretty typical symptom. Your sciatic nerve starts in your lower back and goes through your butt all the way down your leg to your foot. It's possible that with the general back strain of being preggo and the loosening of joints the nerve is getting pinched in there somewhere. It's a bitch, I've had some back troubles in the past. Chiropractic REALLY helped me a lot, physiotherapy did absolutely nothing, so I would recommend seeing a chiropractor if you can.
Chiropractors are totally safe, as long as they have the special table for pregnant ladies. The middle section drops down to make room for your belly. It's also drug-free, all they do is manually work on the spine and the pelvic bones to keep things straight and in line, so if you can try it out, there's really nothing to lose. My OB fully supports my going to the chiropractor. Of course if you have any pregnancy complications check with your doctor first!
Sounds like PGP - a lot of women mix it up with sciatica in pregnancy, apparently, though not sure how to tell the difference - see if this link describes it? It's exactly what I have and a TENS machine works wonders when the pain shoots down my left bum cheek and into my leg:

Two things have helped me: one, a TENS machine on high (or 'contraction' or 'boost' setting), which helps a lot when the pain is so bad I can't even lie down. The other I have only discovered over the last few days which is to lie on my side for as long as I can and avoid sleeping on my back. My baby is (was?) back to back and I've tried a lot of things to move her to the front. Lying on my left side and spending time on hands and knees has made my bump a lot bigger and as soon as I could feel her back along my tummy, the pain lessened a LOT and the shooting pains stopped.
Maybe get checked to see if your baby is in the right position because I think this has had some bearing on my PGP. Other than that, get a TENS machine. I love mine!
Hope you feel better soon! I've been in tears with my back, leg and bum pain some nights (always in the same place, low on the left side and sharp!) so know how bad it is!
