How long after you lose mucus plug...

For moms who have had babies before...when did you lose your plug and when did you go into labor? I am more interested in those who lost their plug once they were full term (since it seems it tends to grow back if your not full term)...

I had false labor on Saturday. I am 2-3 cm dilated and 50% effaced (as of Saturday). Had some period cramping today and then lost my plug today...

The hospital wants me there 4 hours before I have my baby because my daughter was born infected and I am also GBS positive so they want to make sure I have 4 hours worth of anti biotics. My worry is that it will all start too fast and they won't be able to get 4 hours of meds into me?

Thanks

I am pretty sure it grows back regardless of gestation. Anyway, I had DS 5 days after a bloody show. You may be able to estimate 4 hours by contraction timings but its tricky when it's not your first. I keep thinking I'm only going to have 2 hours between first contraction and delivery this time - wishful thinking!

Both times mine came out after my waters had broken whilst in labour, assuming you are on about the bloody show (lovely looking what I call big blob/smeer of jellyfish looking goo streaked with blood) and not just increased CM/Bit's of stringy mucas plug that soo many are confused about?

Yeah I definitely agree with the growing back regardless thing. I was sure I lost mine a couple weeks ago after having a bunch of watery mucus that I thought might have been my water, got it checked out and no, just watery mucus. Started taking EPO 2 days later and had a massive mucus clear out (not all at once though, just throughout the next day) since then nothing more than maybe a small amount here and there until the other day when I started getting mucus again (like last thursday) though not alot. Had a small amount of blood when I wiped yesterday morning, had a sweep later that day and had a bunch more mucus with blood in it this morning, seems to have finished up for now. Called the dr and they told me just to wait pretty much. Only having cramps now nothing significant or regular at this point.

Many say they go into labor within hours while others are waiting for a couple days and I even saw a previous post someone had waited over 2 weeks =/ It really is different for everyone and I know you just want a good estimate but I don't think theres any one answer to give you right now as far as that goes but I definitely wouldn't hesistate to go into the hospital, even if you end up being sent home its better to be safe than sorry!

With my first it was two hours before, with my second I don't even remember it happening t all and with my third it was 3 weeks before. I know you do t want to her this but it could be weeks, days or hours and is one of those things that is different from person to person an pregnancy to pregnancy. I've read a few of your other threads and it sounds to me like everything your going through is a step towards babies arrival. Maybe instead of trying to get things going you should have take a break from symptom searching and try to relax. Maybe tht is what you need more than anything else!!

Ooh I lost mine at 30 weeks followed a day later by contractions and I had to have medication to stop them, I never dilated though, and it wasn't bloody. It obviously grew back because I've just lost it again tonight, but it's not bloody again! Just the clear jellyfish

I actually just asked my doctor about this today at my check up appointment. She said losing your mucus plug is not necessarily an indication of when labour will begin. Some women don't even notice losing their mucus plug before going into labour. I guess it's another one of those maybe, maybe not signals of when it's time..seems like there are an awful lot of those huh?

Must be a frustrating wait. I agree with you that while a show doesn't always mean a lot, blood in it definitely means more. When I had mine and posted on here most people said "nah it means nothing". Called up L&D and they weren't impressed - I mean HELLO I was 34w1d at the time and at risk of preterm labour!
So I went away convinced nothing was happening and then BAM my hind waters go at work at 34w5d. So my suggestion to you is wear a thick pad. Bet things kick off proper in the next couple days.

I lost my plug the day before my due date. I didn't have any bloody show. I continued to loose bits of it the next day or two, but didn't go into labor until I was 41 weeks and 1 day. So... About a week after.
