Cervix length at 27 weeks

Each time I go to the doctor, she does a transvaginal exam to measure the length of my cervix.

At 23 weeks, it was measuring 4.01cm, and yesterday at 27 weeks was 3.56cm. She said it was okay, but I'm surprised it decreased.

Can someone pls help me understand why it's decreased, should it not increase as the pregnancy advances ?

no idea. I've never had my cervix measured! Why do you get an internal exam every visit? (just curious) I'm having my first internal since my pap smear on Thursday and that isonly because I'm getting a sweep (my doctor is trying to help me not go overdue with this one like I did with DS#1)

Cervix length does vary through out pregnancy, and even one week to the next but any thing over 30 mm/3 cm is seen as okay and normal. Hope that helps x
