devastated my cervix are too far back!!

went to hospital today and I am extremely large for my dates, he estimated weight off scan at 8lb @ 35week. they said they would induce on 38 week then decided to leave me to term. So they tried a sweep today and said he couldn't even reach my cervix !!! He couldn't even prefrom the sweep which mean the induction would probably be unsafe next week

Its going to get to the point where i may have to have a section and i am desperate not to. the amount of stretch marks that have appeared over last week is awful and they are huge.

I am so depresed by it all and to boot my mum goes on holiday on 25th july so has next to no time with us. Don't know how much more I can take of this I am constantly crying

aww hon. try not to worry. I am also in a similar boat- have a scan tomorrow and may have to have a c-section. I don't think they are all that bad and if it means bubs is out safeky then that's the main thing xxx

Honey, I'm so sorry I know you're getting very frustrated. Just try to stay strong, and try to keep it together. Thinking of you, and I hope everything works out in your favor.

Try not to worry about the posterior cervix, they couldn't reach my cervix with DS1 at first either and said it was way too far back but a few days later they easily reached it for a sweep, think it does move into the right palce usually.

8lb baby tho, that is one healthy sized baby!

Good luck

thanks

They are discussing section due to size of him and think I may struggle to give birth as he was full term size and weight at 35wks!!!

I am just huge now. I don't dare to even step as every just stares at me and hate explaining that I am not even 40 wks yet and them for them to turn round and say areyou huge, I just burst into tears. The doctors and midwives think I am mad as everytime I see them I just cry. They are attempting another sweep on thursday next week. even the doctor I had today was shocked at the size of him he actually said OMG thats a big baby !!WTF he made me feel like a freak

just really fed up. The reason I dont want a section is we have 4 horses and have left the care with my sister but she is struggling with them now as one is been really ill. I just can't cope with being imobile like I am now its making me severly depressed I just want to get out and about x x

I am in the same boat, hon. My LO has been full term sized since 32 weeks. I am also huge and get told ALL the time I look ready to pop. When ppl ask when I am due and I tell them not for another 3 weeks, they look at me like I am daft! I think the expect me to say "Today!"

Not only is LO huge, but he is breech, too. So I have a section scheduled at 39 weeks. I was so upset at first!! I desperately didn't want the section. But now, I have come to terms with it. LO simply took the decision out of my hands. As long as he is here safe and healthy, that is what matters!

Good luck, hon! Hang in there!

You poor thing! I don't know what to say regarding the cervix as I haven't experienced that but I just wanted to give you my support

I am also getting the whole... "Oh my God, you still have 5 weeks to go? You're HUGE!" treatment I seen a nurse yesterday for my blood pressure and I don't think I've EVER seen anybody's eyes widen so much as when I told her I was 35 weeks. It's like, "ok I get it, my bump is VERY big. Thanks for noticing and making me feel like an alien" It was the same on my last pregnancy! Try not to let it freak you out hun! I know the feeling but really there's not much we can do - it's a sign of a healthy baby I guess.

Hopefully your second sweep will be a success and you won't have to have a section.

Worst case scenario, IF you do have a c-section in the end - once baby comes out healthy you will be on cloud 9 no matter how the birth went

Hope it all works out for you. You haven't long left either way so hang in there xx

(p.s. they are often wrong on scans when it comes to telling the baby's weight so maybe your little one will not be quite as HUGE as you think and you may still be able to give birth naturally. I gave birth to my son vaginally and he was 9lb7oz. They told me he was about 8lb at my scan a couple of days before giving birth!!)

awww I really hope things start naturally for you - I have heard some say bigger babies are quicker to birth as they have less chance of wriggling back up the birth canal, plus the sturdier they are, the less breakable they feel when manoeuvering them into their sleepsuits etc.
My first baby was 7,11 and 2nd was 8,12 and the second was a straightforward birth with a bit of gas and air.
I know it is sooo hard when overwhelmed but try and be positive...I think this birth will probably tilt your cervix anyhow - mine was back before my first and they induced me (pessaries didn't work really but they broke my waters ok.)
Fingers crossed you get some sign of LO soon and really lovely midwives.
