baby measuring big?

Hi everyone,
Iv just had my 32week appointment and baby is measuring big, she's off the chart, as she was 3 weeks ago at my last appointment... The midwife said not to worry but what does it actually mean if your baby is measuring big?
Xx

My daughter was measuring big hon and she came out 6lbs 14oz. It doesn't always mean much, but could mean they'll keep more of an eye on you if at your 36 week appointment baby is measuring big too. Nothing wrong with measuring big so long as baby is moving up at a steady rate x

My baby has been measuring big since 28 weeks, he's also off the chart. I am going in next week for a 33 week check (should've been the week after but that's Chrimbo so no clinic!) and they'll send me for a growth scan. The measurements they take are only a rough guide and can be very inaccurate, sometimes the way baby is positioned can effect it, or the amount or distribution of water you have can alter the results. Sometimes they won't offer a scan until 36/37 weeks.
My consultant said they don't worry about the 'big' ones, it's the smaller ones they want to keep and eye on. IF the growth scan reveals he's measuring really huge, like 11 or 12lbs or something then they'll offer me an elective section. I'm sure everything will be fine for us both though.

Try not to worry, I've read many stories where baby has measured big on the chart but actually came out smaller then what they'd been measuring. In my opinion fundal height charts is just a guessing game. If midwife is really worried she'll send you for a growth scan xx

Don't worry They are only bothered if it grows as a really steep line on the chart - then they will send you for a growth scan. I measured off the chart at 28 weeks and was same with my last preg xx

No reason that should be true - my DD was tiny despite being told she'd be well over 8lbs! and that was from scans!

Wow really! So what do they do if they think your measuring term? Does it mean anything do they have to induce you earlier or anything like that?xx
