Arrived at hospital at 9pm on Thursday as requested, they examined me and I was 1cm dilated... 11pm the gel was inserted and pains started within mins!!
My OH went home to get some sleep as advised as we didn't expect anything to happen until the next day.
I tried to sleep but the pains were coming every 5 mins so had some codine which helped until 4am, I rang my mum and OH and told them to come back to hospital before begging the midwife to check my progression,
As all the pains I had were in my back and hips and NOT in my bump she was adamant they were not contractions, took another hour before she caved and checked me over (after seeing me crying in pain) and was stunned to see I was 5cm dilated and rushed to get my IV antibiotics up and running,
The rest of the labour progressed normally and my little girl Aubree was born at 10.47am on the 18th jan,
However, it was after she was born that all hell broke loose, the cord snapped from the placenta (as had done with my son) the midwives tried all they could to help get the placenta out but I lost almost 2 pints of blood and was rushed into surgery where the doctors had to manually remove it
It was a bit gruesome at the end for my mum and OH but I was so out of it I can't say I was aware of how bad it is
But despite all of that and being on antibiotics now due to risk of infection my little girl is beautiful and has stole all our hearts.
