So my csection went ahead on Wednesday as planned...only it didn't exactly go as expected. Turns out I had placenta Previa and severe adhesions (from emergency section 15yrs ago) which had fused my bladder and bowel to my womb!! No wonder I had pain this pregnancy. I've been told to think very carefully about becoming pregnant again as I may not be so lucky next time. They said its a good job I opted for planned section due to the Previa as baby and I wouldnt have survived a vbac. I just can't believe they missed the Previa...gave the sugical team a nasty shock.
My beautiful boy (Max Stephen Anthony Reeves) weighed 7lb3oz had is in special care but doing really well...im hoping to have him with me on the ward at some point tomorrow.
Feel a bit overwhelmed...with love for my Max, upset at being told another would be too risky and recovering from my section. I just want to take my gorgeous boy home!
I'm going to try and add a pic but it may not let me as using my mobile. Just thought id share my experience with you all. X
I am a firm believer in that things happen the way they are supposed to. The universe is always talking to us, and it is up to us to hear it. It is a good thing you opted for another c-section. Did they tell you how severe the previa was? Sometimes, if it's mild enough it could be missed, especially if there is no bleeding along with the pregnancy. If the placenta was covering the cervix, I find that hard to believe it could be missed, unless you didn't have a single scan at all during your pregnancy.
Id been told my placenta was low/anterior covering my old csection scar at 14weeks when I went for an extra scan due to pain. They double checked at the 20 week scan and said it had moved up and was no longer covering section scar. So was told vbac was an option....i still had pain on and off through pregnancy which was put down to pgp somthing just told me not to risk vbac.. Thank the lord!!
During the section I heard the consultant say 'placenta previa' 'cross match 4 units' and 'the notes were wrong'.
she came to see me after, that's when she said about my fused organs (which had to be separated) due to adhesions and placenta Previa ECT. One of the theatre nurses told me the team had a hell of a shock when they opened me up and that im lucky it went so well.
Stupid phone won't let me add pics...will add some when we get out.
