I'm 39+2 today (although according to original due date I am due today!) Anyway, at my appointment today my consultant give me a sweep. She said my cervix was forward and soft and she was able to do the sweep but I was still quite long. I was just wondering if anyone else has experiences with sweeps before or around due date and them actually working?
I ha a sweep at 39 weeks with my last and all my cervix did was thin a bit my DR repeated the sweep at 39 plus 6 and I had him on his due date. I also just had a sweep today so hopefully something happens!
i had a sweep.on.fri.at 39+6 and she said there was a good.bit of "show" there and i was 2-3 cm.dialated and said she would be surprised if i didnt go in the next few days hoever here i an 40+2and still here so i have mw in the morning and they will.do.another sweep then so i will see what happens x
I had two done, one at 37 weeks and one at 38. I was already at 2 cm and 70% at at 37 weeks. The first one gave me moderate contractions but no change, the second gave me such bad contractions we went to labor & delivery but it was a false alarm. The contractions I had that time were as bad as my labor contractions when I was at 5 cm! They had to send me home on painkillers and Ambien! I had LO 10 days early (my water broke), but I don't think the sweeps helped at all :-/.
