Hi everyone! My first baby was born at 34 weeks 5 days, and although things turned out fine and she is now a healthy 2 year old, it was a rough start. So my doctor put me on the progesterone shots from weeks 16-36 for this pregnancy (I am currently 28 weeks).
I understand that the shots only work about 30-40 percent of the time at helping reduce pre-term labor, but I was just looking for any stories out there. Anyone use the shots and carry their second baby longer than the first, or was it about the same?
(Oh, by the way, I had no pre-term labor signs, just PPROM and had to be induced. Don't know if this makes a difference or not as to whether the shots are effective. I could not find much info out there on the reduction of PPROM due to progesterone shots - studies seem to be more geared towards pre-term labor. So if anyone has any information on that, it would be greatly appreciated!)
I am also on p17 injections weekly. I went into preterm labor with my first at 28 and 30 weeks. The doctor put me on terbutaline for the remainder of my pregnancy and I had her at 37w 5d. My second dd was born at 35w 6d. I had pprom and had to be induced also. If no one else replies to you about their experience, we will just have to keep each other updated. I haven't noticed any contractions or early labor signs, which is awesome. I would love to actually get to the point where I am sick of being pregnant this time. Fx'd that we make it to 40.
I had a pre term at 22 weeks along and got cerclage done with this pregnancy 3 weeks after I started progesterone. Started at 16 weeks, but still began dilating way early. However, I am now 39 + 2 now and he is super snug in here!
I'm glad I can be of help as I asked the same question over three weeks ago and there wasnt much response. . . I was on the shots 16-31 weeks. I had to stop 4weeks early as I developed an allergy to them from 29weeks. Anyway I am still hanging on to my baby at 34+3. I have been niggly , although I have no progression at all . My cervix is still fully closed and very posterior . I hope you guys hang onto your babies
i can not give much insight to this.. but i was on p17 weekly for the first 13 weeks of this pregnancy.. I had no issues with my first pregnancy.. butt i got pregnant about 2 years after that 4 differnt times and was unable to carry any of them.. was told my body was not producing no progestrone at all.. that is why i kept loosing them.. the doctor i had at the time would not put me on nothing to help me keep pregnant. So i switched with this one. and that was the first thing the dr did was put me on the shot.. and i am glad to say i am 32 weeks with a healthy lil boy..
I am still cooking my babe as well . . . . Forgot to say , my 2nd babe I had PROM from 26+6 and then delivered at 32+4. That is why my dr put me on the shots this pregnancy. . . I stopped them 4weeks ago tomorrow, and I am super niggly , had SROM last Monday. But baby is still very happy and not showing signs of appearing just yet !!xx
