can anyone help me with these measurements. i got home from seeing midwife and realised she put 4/5 in the brim box on my notes. ive looked it up online and it means baby is engaged but im guesing its not alot.
im 36+1 now and really hoping she makes an early appearance.
It depends on your midwives system in your area. If she means 4/5ths engaed then you are very engaged (almost all the way) but if like mine they use the palpable scale the you are 4/5ths palpable meaning 1/5th engaged so just a little bit
My MW wrote in my notes yesterday that I'm 4/5, which I've taken as meaning the head is slightly engaged. I'm also just over 36 weeks but have heard the baby can free itself between now and the due date, so will just have to see what the MW says when I see her again in 2 weeks....
There's a really helpful thread on here (in the 3rd Tri group) with a diagram of what the notes mean... Will see if I can find it....
If you were being seen by my mw she'd use the same scales as vicis mw so 4/5 would mean sitting on the pelvic brim so only a lil engaged. Get your ball out and bounce! :P Try not to worry tho being engaged dont mean anything, some women dont engage till labour and i was 2/5 at 36 and im still ere and havin no signs LOL x
thanks for the feedback. im guessing it does mean just sitting on the pelvis so i wont get my hopes up just yet lol
i am doing alot of bouncing on my ball so hopefully in 2 weeks when i see mw, she might have moved further
Caroline -t it worked for me! i wasnt engaged at all then watched EE on the ball everynight for two weeks and read some mags on all fours and he was 2/5 on the next one so that was good, might of been coincidence and he might have just been ready but its worth a try!
