How long in your area do they let you go past your due date?

Just been to see my midwife and as ive had 2 be induced twice before im convincing myself i will need another induction (then i can't be disappointed about not being on time) so i asked if it was still 10 days they let you go over. She said its now 12! Ok its only 2 more days but when you are overdue every day is like a month! My cousin was telling me they let her go 15 days over (shes in glasgow)!! what a nightmare! I think im missing the gene that tells my body when baby is ready to come out My husband is starting a new job the week after im due so ideally baby will be born within the next week to 2 weeks so he gets his paternity leave but can't see it happening! When do they induce in your area and can anyone think of a reason i can give them to go before the 12 days??

have you asked for a sweep?
I got a sweep on my due date; didn't do much but it's 50/50 whether it works.
You could ask your mw to be induced earlier... it pays to be a bit forceful ; it's your baby and body afterall

good luck

Where I live they only let you go over by a few days. It has a lot to do with the malpractice regulations in our state.

In Dumfries and Galloway it's two weeks over. I totally agree, i got induced last time too, and every day does seem like an eternity. Best get trying some of them home remedies for getting that baby out!

Had sweeps with my last 2 and they still had to be induced 10 days late and it hurt like hell so not overly keen to get it done again! I will ask midwife about being induced earlier but im sure they wont do it unless i had a valid medical reason for it. They tell you baby is full term at 37 weeks and then don't want to get baby out till 42 weeks!?! Its doesnt make sense to me.

It's 14 days / two weeks where I am (from once I hit 29 weeks)

I could get a sweep 7 days after then if that doesn't work its induction the week after that!

By your ticker it looks like we are due the same day ~ lets hope our LO's shift for then!

I believe in the US it depends on your OB/GYN. Some won't let you go over and others will only let you by a few days at the most. I know my OB won't let you go over. If you haven't shown any signs of progression by the 38th week, he books an induction for the 39th week.
