Questions about baby's weight

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this (possible IUGR) as I'm not getting straight answers from the doctors and am starting to feel a little concerned.

Went into pre-term labour the Monday before last. Labour stopped but steroids given for baby's lungs just in case.

I had an ultrasound on the 17th February (27 weeks exactly) where baby was estimated to weigh 2lb 7oz. Follow up ultrasound as bump was measuring another week behind at 30 weeks exactly - baby estimated to weigh 3lb 2oz. Another ultrasound day before yesterday at 31+2 - baby still estimated to weigh 3lb 2oz with almost identical measurements. Bump another week behind.

They want to rescan on Monday to confirm, don't seem overly concerned but I am panicking. What with the early labour etc I'm wondering why it's growth has dropped off.

Do these weights sound about right for these stages of growth? They said they're happy with them even though they're small. I'm just concerned it hadn't grown at all in 10 days!

Thanks ladies. Been a roller coaster few weeks.

My understanding is that different machines can give very different results. If they are not overly concerned try to relax and just make sure you are looking after yourself.

I don't know hun I am not a dr, BUT her weight doesn't seem to bad for her gestation. I have two friends that had babies under 5lb full term! put your feet up, and try and relax, what will be will be stress won't help though, she is in the best place with her mommy, xxx

I don't really know what to say, but try not to be TOO concerned. They estimated my baby at 8 lbs 12 oz at 39 weeks. At 39 + 5 I gave birth and she was 7 lbs 6 oz...and that was 5 days after...

Thank you ladies feeling a little more settled now, although still have that niggling feeling. Glad they're rescanning on Monday.

Think I'm mostly shaken by them telling me it's dropped from the 55th to the 8th percentile over 3 weeks. Just seems sudden when its been so consistent up until then.

My 1st dd did have IUGR and when she was born (35 weeks) she weighed 4 lbs 3 oz. When I was pregnant with her I was in another country and when I went to a doctor's appointment they did a scan at every appointment, they saw from the beginning that she was small for her gestation. When I came back to Canada the doctor here said the same thing, but not to worry as she is growing and I'm a small person...etc.

On the flip side, my 2nd dd was estimated to have a birth weight of about 6 lbs 5 oz, she was born 7 lbs 9 oz at 38 weeks and everyone was a little shocked.

Don't worry I had the same problems with my first infact almost identical they induced me at 351/2 weeks after two months of issues they expected baby to be tiny but when I had him he was 5lbs2 allot bigger then they thought so don't worry about it too much Hun as I think they say smaller just to make sure your prepared for it tbh x
