Measuring big, what happens if we keep going...??

Hi ladies, just wondering what happens if you keep measuring big for dates? At the mo my bump is 34weeks and the dates say 31, my mw has just referred me as Im outside the little measurements that she has for 'normal'. What happens if this keeps going? Surely i cant keep measuring big, get to 38 weeks and measure 41 etc etc? Has anyone any experience of this? I know the measurements arent that accurate but just wondered what the outcome might be, i dont fancy a really collosal baby!!xx

p.s its not GD as Ive already been tested and my levels are really good.

I measured ahead all the way through, mostly about 2-3cm. I also had scans every few weeks and Imi was above the charts. I was measuring 6 weeks ahead at full term and she was born at 8lb13oz 2 days overdue! Really don't worry yourself about it hun

this happened to me yesterday at my antenatal. i'm 32 weeks and measuring at 35 weeks. so i been booked in for an extra scan to find out exactly where i am date wise.

me and OH were discussing this last night and came up with the conclusion that it must be alot of water in there with her making me larger. All the other scans we have had have measured her spot on for her time. and everyone was really pleased with her "perfect" progress.

I'm not worried in the slightest as i know i havent got anything wrong with me. bloods are spot on, iron is perfect and my weight is fine.

This happened to my mum when she was pregnant with me. They thought i was twins as she was massive too. back in her day they didnt have scans and so they made her have an xray which in them days were very dangerous and my dad was NOT happy about it. he said if my wife is telling you there is only one baby, then there is only one baby, but they didnt listen and true enough, there was only me there. My mums pregnancy with me and my pregnancy with my daughter have been identical all the way through even down to cravings

The main thing is that our babies are growing well and are obviously happy so i see no reason for concern

Fundal Height is wildly inaccurate. Whilst my fundal height has been EXACTLY spot on for my dates baby has been measuring big, at first as big as seven weeks further than he should have been! He is now approx 3 weeks bigger (by scan measurements) and I have another scan in 3 weeks to see if hes still around the same, three weeks is no cause for alarm. All they may wish to do is induce you before 42 weeks if you go overdue, other than that they dont mind too much unless you are heading for a 12lber+.

I'm having scans every 2 weeks now to check on the size of the baby. Fundal measurement is fine, she was measuring the size of the baby's head and stomach on the scan. Came out in 95th percentile, but still within range, I'm a tall girl and so is my boyfriend. Got another scan next week so we'll see how it goes.

No GD although I have a lot of sugar in my diet, but who knows.

I actually wouldn't mind them inducing me at 38 weeks cos I'm looking forward to having the baby now, but I dunno if I should be wishing for that or not!!

I've got this problem too only mine was measuring 5 weeks ahead - yesterday it had dropped to 4 weeks ahead but I've got a scan today and again in 3 weeks to check the size. Again had my GD blood test and that was fine although the consultant said I might need to repeat it if the baby is big on the scan.

But my bump really isn't huge in comparison for some ladies at 33 weeks, its just really high up. The baby's been up in my ribs for nearly 4 weeks now and its not comfy! I think he just likes having lots of space to move around!

Yeah, like everyone else says, i wouldn't worry about it. It might mean you have more waters than most people. I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead so technically i'm 42 weeks! But because the measuring is so inaccurate i able to go full term naturally, and i'll probably come out with a 6lb baby! Lol.

I am measuring way ahead of dates due to scans.. My fundal height has been ok - maybe 1 week ahead at times..

I had a 32 week scan and baby had an abdominal circumference waaaay off the scale and an estimated weight of 5lb 9oz, then at 36 weeks scan (yesterday) measurements were still off the scale and baby's weight was 7lb 11oz!

I had a neagtive GTT test, and therefore everything is fine.. she just may be a big one! But prob no bigger than 9lb.. which is perfectly acceptable.. But no-one is worried at all.. and these estimations can be way off.

There are many advantages of having a baby on the bigger side! Better feeder, better sleeper (apparently?!)...

Anyway, I wouldn't worry at all, you and your baby sound very healthy. Enjoy and relax.. xx
