Baby measuring 3lbs at 30+6...Too small?

I went to the hospital a couple weeks ago because of kidney pain and they did an ultrasound on the baby to make sure she was okay. They took her measurements and my boyfriend's mom (who works in the department) told us a couple days later that she was only 3lbs and that she and the radiologist were really concerned...

I didn't really think much of it because I was only 30+6 weeks, but she kept bringing it up about how I need to eat more and she hopes I don't go early because the baby is "just way too small". I am 33+3 now and can't stop thinking about it! I'm getting really worried that my baby isn't growing right or there is something wrong.

EVERYONE has been on my back saying 3lbs was too small...but the pregnancy apps that I have say that's in range...

I am tiny anyway (5 ft, 87lbs before I got preg), so I don't know if that matters?

IDK. Can anyone tell me what you were measuring at 30-31 weeks and if my baby's size was normal for that time? Thank you and sorry for the long post!

I think 3lbs seems a good weight at that gestation, if they were concerned surely they would of said something there and then. Could you mention it to your midwife, she may be able to reassure you. I know alot of people who had 5lb babies at term so 3lbs with 10 weeks to go seems normal to me x

Not too small at all . I saw babies in the NICU and on FB groups for preemies that were around 3lbs at 30-31 weeks after birth. It seems to be average for that gestation to me! (Non IUGR babies).

I think 3lbs is Ok for that gestation, especially as you were quite small pre pregnancy. I can't see where you are on my phone but in the UK we have personalised growth charts based on bmi and a few other factors. I had a growth scan last week at 33+5 and baby was 4lb10oz. I'm 5ft8 and was just under 135lb pre pregnancy. I had a lot of muscle so if you adjusted my weight as though i had average body composition it would be about 10lbs less which i tgink has skewed my graph a little. I was told by my radiographer that if she was worried by any of the graphs plotted on my scan report that she would have to send me straight to the maternity day unit so i would think that all is ok if they didnt act on anything within 2 weeks. Do you have a named dr or midwife you can talk to for reassurance? Sounds to me a bit like your bfs mum is interfering a bit. I work in the nhs if you didnt give her written permission it would be illegal for her to look at your notes here, it's a breach of confidentiality. Not really trying to cast aspersions on her character or anything as I don't know her she is probably just worried but I don't think it's fair for you to have everyone on your case about it when on the face of it there doesn't seem to be a problem

My son is estimated at 2 lbs 14 oz as of 29 weeks, and considered in the 54th percentile. 3 lbs at 30 weeks sounds pretty normal to me!

I don't see anything wrong with that weight personally I'm on #4 now so kinda been around the growth scan process a few times. This one at 28weeks measured 2.6 and is between 50-65th percentile your little one sounds right on track!

Why do doctors try to scare patients? My 29 weeker weighed 3lbs on her last US and they said that was consistent with a 30 week baby.
