Sweep today

Sooo this morning I had my membrane swept n it was very uncomfortable.. but it actually relieved me from all the pelvic n joint pain that I was having (which I think is odd).. crazy think is my belly dropped right after n the Dr was surprised.. so I go back to see him Thursday to see if it worked n hopefully be induced... I'm so anxious n ready to deliver!!!! Doing squats n walking today to kinda help the process..

Did a membrane sweep work for anybody n how long after?

I had a sweep on saturday started to loose show/muccus plug sunday and nothing since apart from few extra braxton hicks. So fed up feels like labour will never start .my midwife told me that if its going to work it will within 48hrs. Good luck i hope it works for you

Any luck? My sweep in my last pregnancy put me straight into labor, I had ds2 that night. Relief on the joint pain sounds like a major plus!

I was 2 days overdue with my first pregnancy had a membrane sweep at 4pm started getting contractions right away, had my son the next day at 1130pm. With my second had a membrane sweep a day before due date, had her the next day (on due date) by 330pm. So i guess for me I go in labor right away after the membrane sweep.

Sorry to jump in on your thread with a question rather than an answer for you.... but what exactly IS a sweep? I see it talked about a lot but I don't know what it means. Is it the same thing as having your water broken?

Basically if you are already dilated (any amount really) the doctor using his or her finger moves your membrane (baby sac) away from the uterine wall a little. In theory (and it worked for me both times) this action kicks your body into labor within 48 hours. There might be light bleeding right after its done. Most doctors won't do it unless you are around your due date or over.
